DS2 was here with his wife and 4 kids. We stood outside and watched the parade(pictures to follow) and I have said this before but if you are not out there you will miss it. We have to have the quietest parade ever. When asked to participate the high school band members refuse siting that it is summer and they were not about to waste their time with school stuff....
This year they celebrated Ewing's claim to aviation history http://www.panesu.org/subject/markers/The-Savidge-Brothers,-Aviation-Pioneers
They came up with some cute things. But without any noise it just isn't like a real parade. So one of the "young" men from the club with a loud spearker in his old pickup went around town full blast playing songs (My Ding-a-Ling etc.) and passing along announcments....I also have a picture of a........well more about that when I get them developed.....
Up in the sky can it be the local crop duster? No it is a real army plane. 3 passes real low and no one saw the balls fall. But it was about 2 blocks away where they scattered on the highway and beyond.............lol.....
The little DGD ended up with a mountain of candy.
But I stood for about 3 hours. Then DH comes home and the seniors next year had the bar-b-q at the fire hall and DH was going to have to put the trucks and ambulance away so after we ate we stood around and talked then walked over to the church for pie....like either of us need it...lol. When I got home and sat down I thought I might not get up for a while. Then people wanted to know if I had pictures of our yardart. So I stood for another hour or so. But got some orders. It was a long day. But then about 12:45 when the dance was going to get over by 1 I was shutting off the lights and a cattle truck full of cattle stopped in front of the house. The music was really loud and the cattle I didn't think I was ever going to get to sleep.
I asked DH why cattle don't beller in the truck. Like they would in the field? He said he didn't know. I said maybe they can beller and dance at the same time.....he thought that was cute.....I didn't.It sounded like someone whas in a metal building with 100 sledg hammers....lol.....
It's over, now I am going to wait till the wind quits blowing and go pick up the garbage....
I didn't go down to the breakfast this morning I know it is for chairity but they make watered down pancakes and soupy scrambled eggs and they only have maple syrup.....it is really awful....
We always donate butter to the breakfast every year no matter who is putting it on.
That is if for this year......glad it is over.
They also for about an hour and a half had cruise night. We had the old cars, tractor, backhoe, semi, motor cycles and a radio station from Norfolk with a big hummer. The guy driving came up to DH and said you can drive the hummer if I can drive the fire truck...lol....
Baby Madison wanted out of her stroller so bad. So mom put her on the grass. She loves it and don't seem to bother her legs at all. Then all of a sudden she crawled over to the drive way that is cement and not the smoothest stuff either and away she went. OOOO my knees were just aching to see her do that. So I picked her up and she wanted back down there now.....EEEEUUUU. Tuff little bugger. lol.....Janet
