DH and I went out for breakfast, then

went out to look for a golf bag for him, followed by a trip past the duplex we will be renting in July. When we came home, furniture was missing in the house.

I called DD, left a message on her machine referring to her as a "brat" for not calling us before they came over. I carry the cell phone all the time now, as we won't have a "real" phone the entire month of July. Neither DH nor I want to miss the least opportunitiy to see Carly. They took the oak coffee table with the glass top (very heavy thing) and the Ethan Allen bureau with mirror from the bedroom. Guess that was all they had room for during this haul. I called DH (a retired detective) and said, "look at this room". He came in and said, "oh", then went about his business. All he noticed was the magazines on the floor!!! lol Didn't even miss the table!!! He cracks me up sometimes.

Guess I'll have to vacuum now because that bureau was so heavy, I haven't moved it for quite some time. Always tried, but could not budge it an inch. I am wondering who came in here and took it down the stairs. Guess I'll have to wait for the neighbors to fill me in.

Hi Lanie, I'm not surprised that you had never tried to move the bureau--a tiny little thing like you! :) It's going to seem a little empty in there with the furntiure missing, isn't it? My DH would be the same way, it's just the Moms who know when things are missing...we're just natural detectives.

Any sunshine over your way today? I thought we were going to get some, but it just never materialized.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Hugs,Shari

Hi, Lanie! Is Carly your daughter? We called our daughter Carly for a while, love the name. I'm taking a break at the moment. We're at the stage when the room is a complete disaster, and the more we do, the more it looks as though we have to do! I've been painting trim today...I think my eyes are strained..yes, definitely! Trying to tell if I've painted an area of the window, with the outside light coming in, and we going from that sort of bone white to pale yellow that doesn't look yellow til you see the whole wall. Tedious!!! We have Ethan Allen bedroom furniture, too. Lugging some of that stuff up and down stairs would be a real chore, but we have done it a couple of times! I hate to think of all the stuff we've hauled from Arizona to Washington State to Alabama...

Your retired detective husband is as observant as most men, I guess, when it comes to their own homes. My DH doesn't notice a lot of things, but boy, can he spot a tiny bubble on a piece of porcelain...well, he's paid to do that after all! Well, guess I better put the ball and chain back around my ankle...

It will be interesting to hear from your neighbors about how the heist took place! We have neighborhood watch here, and I'm always afraid I'll be "on patrol" when something bad actually takes place. Believe me, I would just wave and smile at the bad guys, and never give it another thought. Bye for now, Lanie. Hope your afternoon and evening are pleasant. Oh Lord, I've got to think of something for dinner...*help*! Seren

You lucky girl, you, that it was your DD. I once read a news artical about a couple who was on vacation. While they were gone, a moving van pulled up to their home and moved everything. The neighbors though the people were moving--someone was robbing their home of everything. Sleep well, now. Kathey

That happened to a cousin-in-law of mine once, Kathey! Her neighbors watched the whole thing take place!!! They got home from vacation and the house was bare!

Not fun for them - at all!

Lanie - are families great!!! the least they could have done was vacuum for you - lol!!!! i guess having some of the furniture go is going to make it all seem much more real. are you getting nervous yet???

We went out for breakfast today as well, but then we worked on the patio door at DD's - not a whole lot of fun!!

have a happy Monday.

JJ, the step that made me most nervous was the first furniture removal. DD #1 took out patio set up to NY with her a few weeks ago, and that set me back a bit. Now, I am getting anxious for it ALL to be taken out. All that we are not keeping, that is.

Neighbor will be picking up the bedroom set Wednesday. She is the one who is so good to everyone else and has had some real bad turns in her live. Her DH had a devilitating stroke about 10 years ago and before that. We are giving the set to her. Probably today or tomorrow, I will be putting the add in the paper for whatever else left.

DD said they were at the house for about 1 hour yesterday waiting for us to return. Now she certainly COULD have vacuumed then!! lol
