But it's been great! Did I tell you I woke up 3 this morning? Hate when that happens. But this afternoon, I had a 3 hour nap to make up for it. Ahhhh...that was nice, but I sure hope I don't have trouble falling asleep tonight.

I've been reading the board, all about Lanie's missing furniture and that lucky Shari having her son's fresh caught fish for dinner.

About the Peachtree Road Race -- no, Kulani, it's not for charity. Actually, a part of the $25.00 entry fee may go to charity, I'm not sure. It's just a race for fun (and a T-shirt!). And Kulani, I loved your T-shirt story. You were one of the 50 milers? Wow, that is very impressive, good for you!

And yes, Francine, you can walk/run the race. I am not a runner, but I have been running some when I take my river walks lately. I've been trying to get my body used to doing at least a little running, as I don't want to be the last one to finish the race....;-).

Kathey, thanks a lot. Ever since you said what you said to me this morning, I've had that song in my head (The Race Is On)....LOL Worst part of all is that I only know about 3 or 4 lines from the song, and those same lines have been running through my head all day.

Strawberry, I need to fuss at you. You just had to go and tell me about the game, Tumblebees. Help! I can't stop playing! Arrrggghhh.....

Is anyone else's public TV station showing the BeeGees concert tonight? Our station is, and boy, those guys have still got it. They sound so good. Of course, this concert was recorded before Maurice passed away. Kind of sad to see him looking so healthy and sounding so good on the show. They're doing "Jive Talkin" now....there's one to get stuck in YOUR head, Kathey. J-J-J-Jiiive talkin'....you're tellin me lies....lol

I need to shower, then I'll be back for a late night visit to the garden. Hope everyone is having a good evening......BB

"It's just your jive talkin', you're tellin' me lies

Jive talkin' your wear a disguise

jive talkin' so misunderstood

Jive talkin' you're really no good."

Ponder that for awhile..LOL!! Darn, it's not on here or I would've been watching it.

Ouuu..you're getting me revved up again!! As I've mentioned before, one of my long time dreams for all the years I've lived here, is to walk/run in the 10K race here as part of the River Festival. I never could find anyone to go in it with me and that would be more fun than doing it by myself...or so I thought. Silly notion because no matter who anyone started out with, you'd end up coming in on your own anyway! It is my goal to be in that 10K race in May of 2005 after I've gotten my other foot surgery too and all is healed up. Soooo looking forward to that time!! :o))

Glad you had an easy weekend, you needed that as you've been extra busy getting ready for your parents arrival. Next weekend will be it for sure, the sun will shine!!

Sweet dreams dear friend...Susie

Hugs,

..

Hmmmmm, let me see now. You are 39, right? Which means that you would have been a young teenager when the Bee Gees were popular. Hmmmm, curiouser and curiouser, as Alice said. LOL!....BB

BB, Back in the 70's the BG's were having a concert in Fort Lauderdale and their luggage was misplaced in transit and they needed shirts for the afternoon show and their publicist came into our shop and wanted to know if we could sew some trim onto shirts for three men for a show this afternoon and my mom said her daughter had the time and could do it. So the woman came back to where I was working and and handed me three shirts and a bag and asked me how much to sew the trim onto the shirts and I said $20 and she looked at me funny and said did I want tickets to the concert and backstage passes and albums and autographs and I said no just pay me for my work and that was all that I needed. I thought she thought I was charging too much. I didn't know who she was or who I was sewing for until I saw the news that night. I lived a sheltered life. My husband kept me close to home and didn't allow me any friends other than his friends and all of my own friends were in Indiana. I could have kicked my self when I found out who that lady was and what I had turned down in my ignorance. All I ended up with were the memories of more innocent times. They must have had a good laugh at the dumb girl at the drapery shop who didn't know who she was working for and was so afraid of charging too much for her work that she undercharged everyone no matter what she did for them. I probably should have charged them $20 per shirt but I never wanted to gouge people doing something I love to do. I still feel the same way. Lots of other people charge much more than I do and don't sew half as good as I do. I just love to sew and just feel like I am stealing by charging what others charge. I used to do mending for a dry cleaner and he charged the customer when they dropped off the laundry and then when he finished cleaning the item he brought it to me and I mended it even after he paid me my fee he still made mone on the repair charge that is how much he charged for the repair. I couldn't believe that people believed it really cost that much to mend something. I just charge $4 plus the cost of a jipper to mend a pair of jeans and the laundry charges $12 I almost had a heart attack when I saw what he charged. To me that is legalized theft. I hate to mend jeans but sometimes they need repairing and they are easy to do if you know how to do them and I do know how to do them. And if someone has paid $60 for a pair of jeans they don't want to throw them out just because the zipper broke. Well I need to get to bed I just don't seem to know when to stop my fingers from running. I have had a long day. Love and Aloha Kulani

Wow, what an interesting story, Kulani. How sad that your life was the way it was back in those days, you could have MET the Bee Gees and had an all around wonderful evening as a reward for your expert and reasonably (MORE than reasonable) priced work.

You will appreciate this.......Years ago, I bought my DD a French tapestry ballet bag in an expensive shop. It was a Christmas gift for her, and I paid much more for it than I was comfortable paying, but it was a beautiful and very special bag, and I wanted it for my DD, so I got it ($100.00 for a ballet bag for a 10 year old --I know, I was nuts). Anyway, she loved it and took good care of it, but last year, the zipper on the bag broke. The bag hung in DD's closet all year while she was away at school, and not long ago, I noticed it hanging and thought it was a shame that the bag was no longer being used. So I took it to my dry cleaners to have a new zipper put in. Never thought to ask how much it was going to cost me, but I had $15.00 or thereabouts in my mind. Well, when I went back to pick up the bag, the bill was $35.00! I was shocked! Yes, they did a fine job and installed a heavy duty zipper that should last for years to come, but $35.00? I think even my dry cleaner was shocked -- he sends all alterations outside of his shop -- and he was apologizing for the cost. Oh well, lesson learned.

Hope you have a good day and week, Kulani.....Love, BB

BB, Your Dry Cleaner should have gone back to that person and said that the charge was unreasonable and told them what a reasonable charge was and that would be all they would get or they would not be getting any more repairs from them. The man that I did repairs for had a list of charges that he charged that I felt were too high and I charged him my charges and he charged his customer his charges and he paid me mine and if I charged more for some things than he did he just ate the difference because he made it up on something else but there were very few things that I charged more than he did. You should always ask before you leave anything with someone.

One time he brought me a pair of slippers that needed mending around the outside seam and my machine couldn't sew it and I took them to the shoe maker in town. Well this man was really proud of his work and when I asked him how much he charged to men a pair of slippers he looked at me and he said "I charge $2 an inch" well I just looked right back at him and said "Well I never met a man in my life worth $2 an inch" and walked right out of his store and left about 15 people laughing there butts off. And I gave the slippers back to the Dry Cleaners and told them that they would have to find someone else to fix them for him. He finally hired someone to work in the store that he could pay by the hour a minimum wage to run the store and do repairs on the side and not have to pay them for their skill. I told him I would work in the store but he would have to pay me for the repairs on the side as an extra on top of the hourly and he didn't want that. That suited me. I made more money working at home and didn't have to leave the house and put up with the public. And if I felt like doing the mending in my nightgown I could. Well my DD needs the computer to copy some music so I will end this for now but if you need anything else let me know before you get taken by anyone else it may be cheaper to send it here. Lots of Love Aloha Kulani
