I've just joined this group, hoping to find some answers.
I'm a writer, and for a long time I've been "sitting" on my finished first novel, not being able to write a synopsis.
I've read many articles about the subject, but they do not solve my problem.
To begin with - my novel is very long (254,000 words). To take the advice generally given of writing 1 page for each 10,000 words - my synopsis would be 25 pages. Sounds to me too long for a synopsis.
The plot is complicated and there are at least 8 points of view in the book (main characters) and dozens of minor characters. Included in the book are 6 chapters of history which tell about the centuries prior to the time the story takes place.
I'm sure you can understand why it is so difficult to write a synopsis for my book!
Can you please help me with ideas of how to write my synopsis? Any comment would be much appreciated.
