The day after

Earlier in the week I had visions of lounging around in my robe until noon, feasting on turkey sandwiches & watching movies today. Didn't happen. In the light of day the house looked like a Midwest hurricane had gone through. Half full glasses, pumpkin pie ground into the rug, kids game parts under the furniture, chunks of unknown food stuck to the kitchen counter. Don't even get me started on the beer bottles that needed to be rinsed before they go in the recycle.
I thought I'd tackle it after fortifying myself with plenty of coffee, but we had to drop my car at the shop for a cleanup, so I had to get dressed. Got back home and DH remembered that the back door security light had stopped working. Okay, I got the dishwasher loaded yet again, and we took off to Menards. Found the light, then decided to look at the storm doors we've been thinking of installing. Wouldn't you know it, they were on sale, so we were forced to roam around trying to find a clerk to order them. Thank goodness they were not in stock, so no waiting in the lumber yard. By the time we were done it's was lunch time, so back home to plates full of leftovers. Finally, an hour of relaxing, but then back to cleaning. DH installed the light and never got the floors cleaned.
Oh well, the car is back & looking like new, the counter & table sparkle and I am heading to Curves in the morning. No matter what.

Aaaah the tell tell signs of a happy Thanksgiving. Glad you took your time to cleaning up.
Do ya mean you would have stayed here, cleaned up the mess and let me go shopping - LOL? If so, you're invited next year.
Yep, these will be full view. I convinced DH to get them so the cat could look out :). He'll do anything for Jackson. As we always use the backdoor, it has a regular storm door and I wanted to be able to sit at the table & see the plants in the garden. Didn't have one on the front door, but I get nervous when strangers come to the door & DH is so trusting he just opens the inside door - I want a barrier between us & the outside world. We did get the ones with ironwork grillwork for security, as we keep messing up the current screen with elbows & packages. I like that I will be able to open the window section I want. Just hoping the store gets them in soon so we can get the front one up before it's too cold.
Hang in there,
Jacquie
I hate the day-after clean up; it's almost as bad as a hangover. Do you have smokers in your house: does anything smell as bad as a cigarette in a bottle of stale beer (l).

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
Sclemeel, schlemazel, hasenfeffer incorporated.
We're gonna do it!

Nah - the smokers are all trained to do that outside. DH & I both smoked for years. When I quit I cleaned the drapes, washed the walls & banished DH to basement for smoking. When he quit 2 years ago he declared no smoking anywhere in the house.
