Road trip - maybe

DH has agreed that driving to New Orleans in April might be better than 18 hours on an Amtrak coach seat. Big concession on his part, because he isn't big on long drives. I told him we could break up the trip and stay overnight in Memphis at our fav hotel (Springhill Suites) right on the streetcar line and that got him interested. Even better that the economy has brought the suite price down by $80! Then we could drive to NO the next day. Having a car means I could SHOP! Woo hoo.

I think driving down to N.O. is a great idea Jacquie and breaking the drive up with an overnight stay in Memphis sounds like the perfect stopping point. That's where my bro and DSIL usually stay on the way back home too...but not at that hotel. My step-niece is taking my bro and DSIL to N.O. just before Christmas for a few days (all expenses paid on her) for their Christmas present. Sure wish I could join them...I love N.O. and I bet it's pretty at Christmas.

I have made many a road trip to N.O. from north Texas. It's a long 12 hours of pushing the pedal, but has always been worth it. Sad to say that I have not been down there since Katrina. Memphis is a great place to overnight. Sounds like you have the beginning of a fun trip planned.
