Bean soup and ham!

Good morning all. DH does not like bean soup but I do so I made a small pot yesterday using leftover ham I had put in the freezer and lots of onions. Yum!

Sarah is coming out later and we are going to town to finish my Christmas shopping. I have just 2 people to buy for and then I am done. BFF Nancy collects crystal and perfume bottles so I will be looking for one for her. DS Russ paints radio control car bodies and sells them on Ebay so I am getting him some paints he wants and a new airbrush. I also have to get stockings for my DGD's up in Michigan. I already have stuff to put in them.

Of course since I am going to town, it has to be raining all day. Oh well, I wont melt! lol

How do you make a 'small' pot of bean soup. I love it but make enou8gh for an army at one time.

I wish my family was so easy to buy for; everyone says whatever I give will be loved but I never see them wear it (lol).

We both love bean soup, pinto is our favorite. As we never have a ham bone, I buy smoked pork hocks, cook everything a day ahead, cool & skim off the fat. Now you got me started thinking about bean soup - and I don't feel well enough to get to the store. DH thinks he is coming down with my cold,so can't send him. At least I have turkey & rice soup to enjoy.

Bean soup is good, but my favorite with ham is split pea, and I haven't made that in a really long time. Maybe I should do that when my turkey soup is gone. Thanks for the thought.
