First I want to thank you all

First of all, thanks to all of you for the expressions of sympathy and suipport following the death of my DSIS.  DD2 and I attended the funeral service and saw many people on DH's side of the family that I had not seen in a very long time.  My remaining DSIS appeared quite shaken at the service, and she looks quite frail.  Please keep her, and my late DSIS's DH and DSon in your prayers.  She really was a sweet woman.

On Sunday, DD2 particpated in a fashion show.  I wish I could say that it went well but, truth to tell, it was a disaster.  It would take several pages describe how awful everything was.  Let us just say that the entertainment was good and the models looked lovely.  Everything else, pfffftttt.  What a mess.  It was a lesson in how not to plan and organize an event like this.

I just wanted to peek in a see how you all are doing.  I am making plans to bake cookies this year.  Don't know why that notion popped into my head, but I am off in search of a bottle of creme de menthe and some other things to experiment with.  DDs are nervous. LOL

I will try to get back here later.  I miss hanging out as much as I used to.

Hugs,

Dannie

It's just so good to see you here Dannie. I miss you hanging out in the Garden too. Wish we had more details on that fashion show...that just sounds too intriguing! Poor DD to be involved in a disaster.

Not sure what kind of cookies you're baking but if they involve alcohol they should be good!!!

Hugs to you gf...

It seems your family has had much sadness and loss this year.

Sounds like it will be a rough patch for your family with the loss of DSIS. Sending you cyber-arms to keep you well.

If you run out of cookie ideas, you can always make Peanut Butter Blossoms. Recipe is simple - and who doesn't like peanut butter & chocolate? My younger DGrDs love to make them with me and sneak a few chocolate kisses on the side. They claimed that their Dada told them about sneaking a taste - LOL.

Hi Dannie,

Fashion events can fall to pieces so quickly if people don't keep on top of things. What did your daughter model?

This season just would not be right without cookies. My laptop is sitting amid a pile of chocolate chips and bags of sugar here in my kitchen. It's all just waiting for a day of wet, cold weather that I won't go out in. I'll fire up the oven and turn into an elf (like Keebler LOLOL!). We're predicted to have that weather roll in on Friday, so maybe I'll get to it this weekend. My heritage has a large German background so I have recipes for gingersnaps, spritz, nuremburger, and yule cookies that are all holiday favorites. I'll be making Toll House cookies too just because. Hope all your favorites come out great.

Hugs,

Ooh, I wish you lived near me. There is a big German holiday event in Chicago - Christkindle that I wish I had someone to attend with. Check it out on the internet.

I make the Swedish butter cookies in memory of my FIL who said they brought tears to his eyes remembering his DM making them. My fav is any kind of shortbread - no low fat cookies for me - LOL.

Are those Swedish butter cookies called "Melting Moments" Jacquie? My Mom made those and yes, they did bring tears to your eyes. They were the best cookies I've ever had in my life. I've got the recipe and I made them once but they didn't turn out like hers...mine flattened out and just didn't taste the same. Maybe I'll tackle them again some day.

Hey...I would have gone to Christkindle with you...you didn't ask! I went last year...I think it was. It was so darned cold...I think the temps were about 5* that day and it had snowed a lot beforehand so we were slipping and sliding in about 6" of muck. It wasn't a pleasant experience. I went with about 7 of my girlfriends. The best part of the day was lunch at Applewood Cafe.
