I do believe that winter has 'officially arrived' in my part of MI. There is white stuff on the ground. Not nearly as much as the west (Lake Michigan) side of the state though. I hear they got about 8 or 9 inches of the stuff. It's that "lake effect" snow!!!
I have some flowers out at the mailbox that are still blooming! I believe they are calendulas....think I'll plant a bunch of them next year if they are going to last this long!!!! (picture attached!)
It was a late night for me last night. My friend Syl had been rushed to the hopspital after having passed out at home on Wednesday afternoon. She had been battling what she thought was the flu for nearly 2 months. And had been dealing with diarrhea and vomiting for the past few days. Yes, I know, she should have seen a doctor but.... Their DS had spent the night at the neighbor's home Wednesday. They pumped her full of fluids (she was terribly dehydrated) and sent her home. Her DH called me from St. Louis to tell me about it and ask if I'd check in on her yesterday. I spoke with her several times yesterday and she seemed to think she was doing better. But around 10:30 she called and asked me what I thought she should do as she was beginning to feel terribly dizzy and ill again. "Call 911 and get to the hospital!"!!! I asked her to call me back as soon as the ambulance arrived and I'd head for the hospital to keep her and her DS company. They again pumped her full of IV fluids, anti-nausea, and anti-diarrhea meds and sent her home around 2:00. Her DH was driving home from Chicago by then so I just took her home and saw that both she and her DS were tucked in and came home myself. She saw her doctor this morning and she was given some oral meds to take and had some more blood drawn for test. The doc seems to think that she may have an intestinal bacterial infection of some sort. Her DH just told me that she managed to eat (and keep down) a corn muffin a bit ago.
Would you all please keep her in your prayers for a bit?
Now I need to go read the rest of the posts!

You are loved ~~ far more than you may ever know!

Oh dear I hope they find out Syl's problem.
Poor Syl!
Katie, I hope your friend is now on the mend. I have heard of this flu lasting a long time. I had a friend who never gives in to sickness that took to her bed and it was during the time her daughter was about to be married. There was some doubt she would even get to attend the wedding but she did. She went back to bed afterward though. She would think she was better and then get sick all over again. That went on for a month. There was an upside though. Her mother of the bride dress was a little snug and she was worried about that, but could slip right into it
Oh gosh Katie...that's horrible...poor Syl. Bacterial infections can be so hard to fight. I know how hard it is to stay hydrated when you just can't keep anything down. I've had that happen when I've had horrible migraines and nothing stays down.
You must be exhausted today...hope you get a nap. I'll keep Syl in my prayers.
Oh Kt what a good friend you are. It does sound like Syl has something more than flu. Hope her doctor gets it all sorted out and she is on the mend soon.
Hugs,
Melissa
Thanx, ladybugs, Syl is feeling a bit better.
Thanks for the update on Syl, Katie.
