A joy of retirement

I'm sitting in my robe, drinking coffee and working on gift sewing projects, watching TV at 9:30 AM. DH is out getting groceries, so I'm keeping an ear out for phone calls. I have to keep reminding myself that it's no longer necessary to get dressed by 8 AM!

Feeling good, going to tutor reading at midday, will probably be home all Weds as a storm is predicted. Bring it on - the freezer is full and DH has gas for the generator.

Having a normal day after 9 days of coughing is SO great.

Oh heck...I forgot to get gas for my car! I have 1/2 a tank but still...when it snows and the temps drop to 10* I like to have a full tank. Darn, darn, darn. Guess I better stay put huh? Isn't it great staying home on a snowy day? Not that I like being unemployed but I sure did hate driving 18 miles to work in snow!!!

Never venture out on an IL snow day when the tank is 1/2 full! That's when you will be sure to get stuck behind a plow or even worse, behind an accident.

Yep, whatever the reason, staying home on a nasty day is a gift. I'm gonna watch White Christmas on Weds and enjoy their fake snow.

You'll love this...

I put the nicest Christmas cards in my shopping cart at Marshall's last week and at checkout forgot they were in the cart and never bought them!! Duh!! This would have been the perfect day to sit, watch TV and address them! Grrrrr

Guess I'm now forced to decorate instead. LOL

I started printing my own cards on the color inkjet some years ago. There are so many cute images on the web to use, plus I can type a personal message on each. I use Scrapbook Designer software. Even print the envelopes from the program.

No, it is a program I purchased to do scrapbooking. But - you can create your own cards using free images saved, then pasted into a .doc page. I always print a photo of new family members, etc. inside each card. Maybe you'd like to use one of Mama Blu.

You just have to get the printing sequence right - use 8.5 x 11 card stock, a page each for outside & inside, then play around with how to feed the single sheet in so it prints correctly. Do you have a color printer? My only gripe is that I tend to run out of inkjet cartridges at the wrong time, so must remember to have some on hand.

Our weather is getting icy, so I think I'll skip tutoring today. Just don't want to go out and get a setback with the dang cold.

Good idea to stay in today. Our heavy snow is starting now...it had let up for a couple of hours. Wonder if we'll really get the 9-11" they're predicting. Someone shoveled my driveway this morning...I have no idea who!! An angel for sure.

Didn't go to tutor - thankfully, it is a class with a lot of tutor volunteers. Weather is cold, rainy & very windy and it's a long walk from the parking lot. Just didn't seem like a wise thing to do when I am finally getting over the bug.

I'm making personalized luggage tags for gifts, so just went into production mode. It's mostly print, cut, sew process. Turned on disco music through the whole house and the place is rocking.

Glad to hear that your arm has healed so well. Isn't it amazing what our bodies can do?
