I should have heeded my own advice. Around 2:00 it still wasn't snowing (the HUGE snow storm "they" had been talking about for days), so I got in the car and drove to the next town over (about 12 miles) to do a couple of errands and get my car filled up with gas. While there I got a craving for a Sam's Club chicken so I stopped there. They were sold out of them but had a lot of them spinning around and cooking and they sure looked done to me. I figured they had to be coming out of that cooker pretty soon so I killed some time in Sam's looking around. When I was ready to go those chickens still weren't done so I checked out with the couple of little items I had picked up and headed home. When I stepped out of the store I stepped into a full blown blizzard!!! Guess the weather forecasters were right after all! I was so thankful the drivers on the route I chose to come home were careful and drove 15 mph under the speed limit and didn't drive on my bumper. The roads were pretty slippery but I got home just fine.
"They" say we'll have heavy snow for a couple of hours and then rain the rest of the night then more snow tomorrow and then the temps will drop to about 14* tomorrow afternoon.
Don't y'all wish you lived here? LOL

I'll still take the brightness of snow over the gray day we had down here. I also love the way the snow silences the traffic noises.

Goodness Blu that had to be a shocker. So glad you made it home safe and sound. I stepped out of the store at lunch and was hit with cold and clouds. I could have swore it was going to start snowing any minute, but it warmed up by the time I left work at 3.
Is it still snowing today?
((hugs))
Your afternoon's blast of snow didn't hit my area until around 1:00am!
8" on the ground and still snowing in central Vermont!
Meals on Wheels is closed today so we don't have to go out to deliver to our seniors. The garbage man just came and said the roads are awful.
It just started up again here. The major Chicago TV stations have sent crews out here (60 miles nw) to report on our conditions. Geeeez...it's only 6.5" of snow...it's not like it's 18"!!! I've seen a lot worse around here. But it's the first big snow of the season so I guess that's a big deal. Everyone freaks out.
What do the seniors do when Meals on Wheels is closed?
Our stations are going overboard. It's daylight, the small amount of snow we've had is blowing, but it's not white out conditions. DH venture out to run an errand and said it's just not the time to get on the Interstate with the big rigs. Heck, I'm not even going out today.
Worst problem will be overnight when temps get very low. Will be plenty of cars that won't start, furnaces out, etc.
