Haven't been able to sign in........

for a couple of weeks.  Everytime I tried I got "this web page is unavailable".  Happened other times too.  Don't know what was going on.

We survived Thanksgiving, took two days to finish all the dishes.  My dishwasher finally gave out and we haven't replaced it yet.   Will end post with grandson story on Thanksgiving.

DH is working at the "Toys for Tots" warehouse.  We were able to deliver 5 boxes of clothing to the battered women's shelter here in town.  That's good for them, but I fear more and more people are giving clothing instead of toys.  FYI, the Marine Corps ONLY distributes toys or appropriate gifts for teens.  It would be completely impossible to distribute clothing as everything is boxed up according to age and sex.

We're going to go shopping for DGBabies next week.  I need to go into a toy store for some inspiration.  Unfortunately, DDIL's father inherited quite a bit of money when her grandparents passed away and seems bent on spending every dime as quickly as possible.  She said they already got two huge boxes of presents for the little ones.  Kind of takes the fun out of it for parents and other grandparents.

Sad news, my cousin who presided over Mother's funeral passed away over Thanksgiving from a massive heartattack.  My family seems to have had it's share of grief this fall.

Now for a DGS story.  The turkey was sitting on the counter, browned and smelling good.  DGS stared at it for a while and then announced.

"Don't want turkey."

It's not turkey, it's a big chicken.

"Don't want big chicken.  Want other chicken."

Okay, what do you want?  artificial chicken.?

"Yes."

Do you know what artificial chicken is?

"Yes.............chicken nuggets."

He didn't eat turkey and he didn't get artificial chicken either...........Hugs, TJ

So sorry to hear of your cousins passing over the Thanksgiving holiday Jane. So hard on the family.

Love your DGS turkey/chicken story. Kids are funny these days. My great niece wouldn't eat the turkey either...she's just not big on any kind of meat at all. Kind of a self made vegetarian. She really took to the sweet potato casserole I made...until...she got a bite with a pecan in it. That was it...done! LOL

I know what you mean about buying for the kids when the other side of the family seems to have unlimited funds. I buy a few trinkets that I think are cute and that I can afford and then my niece get showered with beautiful expensive gifts from the other side of the family. Oh well...it is what it is.

Hi, TJ, is the only site you got that message? I get it sometimes here and with other sites. Usually if I clear my cache to make more memory available that helps.

Sorry about your cousin. 2009 was not good year for so many. I hope your daughter-in-law is socking some of that money away for a rainy day and there are a lot of rainy days with this economy. It is nice to be able to splurge once or twice but she should be thinking of the kids' educations.

Cute story by your grandson. Did he eat everything else?

TJ I had the same problem for a couple of days. Luckily, I was finally able to sign in.

Hey I don't know about your grandkids, but mine love whatever I get them, because it's from Grandmama. So it doesn't matter how much they spend. They won't remember none of it next year.

Sorry about your cousin. Yes, you have had more than your share of grief this year. I hope you get a break from it next year.

Oh my, your Dgs sounds like mine. They say 'eeeww" before they even know what I'm cooking. They have been raised so bad on junk food. If it's not chicken nuggets, hot dogs, or pizza, they don't want it.

Your thanksgiving sounded great. I would have loved being there with all that food.

(((hugs))

Loved your kid story.
I'm with him, I didn't eat a bite of Turkey but I certainly made up for it with the starchy side dishes and desserts.

Hi, TJ.

Sorry to hear about the death in your family.

It looks like fast food wins again with your DGS.
