Thought I would let you gals in on what's been up with me. I have been pretty sick for awhile, finally feeling better. So, besides having the breast cancer this summer, the car accident, the hernia surgery in October, I had been having "plumbing trouble" LOL for awhile, I had been getting bouts od dirrahea, constipation, GERD,etc. But I had been also loosing a lot of weight. I have lost 65 lbs since last Fall. I had a UTI after the hernia surgery, then i was hospitalized for a few days, they did a sigmoidoscopy, and it was neg for C-diff, i went home for T-giving, felt horrible, went back into the hosp that Saturday, was there for 6 days being treated for dehydration! They ran more tests, another colonoscopy, an EGD and then a sm bowel series, I hate Golitely and barium, yuck! Well, they finally diagnosed what i have had for probably awhile now, Celiac disease. It is an autioimmune disease, it is one of the most underdiagnosted, misdiagnosed as IBS in many people. It can be VERy serious if left untreated too long. What happenes is the little vili in your sm bowel go flat, they can't absorb nutiients you eat, so you poop it out and loose weight in most cases. You are sensitive to Glutens, wheat, rye, barley, malt. So, no more regular pizza for me or my fave Italian rolls, etc. At least I now know ehats wrog and can deal with it!
How are you ladies, andy of you all Gluten sensitive?

Thank goodness they have finally been able to diagnose the problem, Claddagh! Now that you know what foods to avoid things should improve!
I have a good friend who's 2 year old DGS has just been diagnosed with this disease!
My dad was diagnoised with This About a year and a half ago.....There is bread and pasta that is gluten free....also cookies, and now in the regular part of the grocery store there is a gluten free cake mix....
My advice....READ the labels on everything....so much hidden wheat...in soups, thickenings..etc....It is managable!
I am somewhat familiar with Celiac Disease because of all the info that Elizabeth Hasselback has given.
Wow! You've been through a lot.
