Some of my friends and I attended the wake for the father of one of our h.s. friends late this afternoon. This wake has been one of many we have attended together in the past few months and we all agreed we need to stop meeting like this. We got to talking and one of the gals said, "you know what...God must be planning to have one heck of great New Year's Eve party this year because he's taken some really awesome people from us!" I agree.
We got around to telling some stories about our days in h.s. and some of the crazy stuff we did and had some good belly laughs. Our gf whose father had passed and my bff had really gotten into some hot water in h.s.!! Innocent fun.
I saw quite a few people I knew at this wake...people I didn't expect to see. Lots of friends of my Moms who expressed their sympathies to me and had so many kind words and nice memories to share. I guess that's the nice thing about living in a small town.
I also got to spend a few quality minutes with our Mayor, whom I hadn't seen in a while (she's married to a h.s. classmate of mine)...and told her I was out of work and looking for a job and asked her to please keep her eyes open for me. She promised she would and said there is one lady at City Hall who keeps talking about retiring and she'd keep me in mind for it. That job would be perfect!! We'll see.
Is it bad to network at a funeral?

Well that just sucks Blu, but your health comes first. Hopefully they will call again after all the tests and dr visits.
