I spent the afternoon learning to ride the subway. My family will freak out that I'm riding the subway LOLOL! I love public transit! Learned how to get to Lincoln center and back. OMG I was in front of the Metropolitan Opera. You know that scene in Moonstruck where Cher meets Nicholas Cage in front of the fountain? I was there today. The theater where the ballet performs is right next to the opera house. Nutcracker was so good I cried. The ballet was over by eight so I hopped the subway back downtown to check out the stage door thing at the Barrymore.
J.S. is sooooo good looking. He signs autographs and allows pictures with the people who want photos. I stood back and watched because I don't see the play until tomorrow night. Didn't want to infringe on someone else's opportunity, but tomorrow I'll be there with the camera. Now if I can just remember to breathe.....
Hugs,
Melissa

You rode a NYC subway at 8:00 at night???!!!! I wouldn't do that in Chicago!!! Uh uh...no how no way!! You are one brave lady. When the Ladybugs were here (Chicago) we didn't ride the public transportation at night...we just walked the streets!!! LOL
I love that you were so moved by The Nutcracker...I bet it was beautiful. So you actually saw J.S. from far away this evening?? Keep your Ladybug dignity (??) about you tomorrow night when you go try to meet him. Don't lunge at him and knock him over or you might make the headlines on either the Today Show or Good Morning America!! LOL
I do remember the fountain scene from Moonstruck. Ahhhhh...I want to be there with you Melissa. You're having SO much fun!!! I'm so happy for you.
Girl, you are wearing your BIG GIRL PANTIES, for sure - the subway after dark?!!
It's so fun reading your posts!
Melissa, New York is SO exciting. I am so envious, but am loving the ongoing reports.
Hi Blu, Deb, Donna,SS and all,
Yes, the subway at 8 at night from Lincoln center was full of people who were at and in the ballet. Several of the children who danced and their parents were on the same train as me. I don't feel unsafe at all. New York's finest in blue are everywhere as well. I talk to them, ask the questions, and they all want to know where I'm from. By now half the city knows there is a lady from Texas one step from lost somewhere downtown, uptown or midtown, and they all send me in the right direction with a smile. The northbound trains depart from the east side of the station (street)
Hugs,
Melissa
I've never been on a subway or the El. I'd be afraind the door would close before I was all the way in (lol).
Sounds like you are enjoying every second in NYC. I hope the weather continues to cooperate with your plans.

Kathey the door won't close if someone is in it, kind of like elevator doors. But it is a fast happening thing, but fun.
