Wouldn't you know that the first time in years that we are going to have the last week before and probably days after Christmas with bad weather. Don't get me wrong we have bad weather in Nebraska but some years we just wish for a little snow or some fresh snow for Christmas...Well the forcast is for snow everyday including Friday...wouldn't you know. Also this is the first year where we had other things to do. Most years we just sit back and wait for the spring so we can get to our camper but we have at least 3 dr. appointments the friends open house today and go to our son's house for dinner Friday. Well whatcha going to do. We still get the chuckle with places in the east having such a time with a little snow. I know it is not funny but around here 2' of snow wouldn't really keep us down unless the wind blew it around hard for a few days.

I remember going to my aunt's house for Christmas one year, she had a farm and they had opened her road the day before and for 2.5 miles we had one way driving with snow piled 2-3 cars deep you couldn't stop because if you got stuck noone could get out of the car to get help..(pre cell phones..lol) Except that the top was open it now remided me of a huge MRI......but it was so sunny that day crisp but now bitter. The snow, when we got to open fields was exactly like the diamond trucks had been dumping diamonds in the fields it was magical....

I also remember one Christmas we had dinner at my uncle's house right in Hartington and we had the worst ice storm I think I have ever seen. So my sister and I walked it was only less than 3 blocks away when we cut through our back yard...but I fell once about half way up there and to this day still have a roaming chip in my one knee. But it was beautiful and scary at the same time. It was cloudy barely a breeze so it was quiet except for the trees groaning and cracking under the pressure of the ice. It had melted back by the time we went home later in the afternoon but at the time it was wonderful....

Guess when we were kids the weather didn't bother us so much and now for the most part I don't care what it is doing out there if I don't have to go out in it. I rarely complain about the weather to much cause I know the extremes.....well sometimes I complain but don't think it is going to be as much about the heat anymore..man, I am getting old....lol

We seldom get snowed in here in mid IL, but back in the 70s we had a blizzard about the time we needed to go across town to buy the fresh tree. DH refused to make the trip. Well, there was a fruit store in our neighborhood still selling trees, so DSs & I grabbed their sled and some rope, trudged down the single plowed lane in the middle of the street and brought that beauty home. To this day, they still talk about the adventure and how it was the best tree ever.

Hoping your weather settles down enough that you can get everything done safely.

Hi Girl! I used to live in Michigan and remember well how high the snow can really get and since moving to TN almost 30 years ago, I still get a laugh over how everyone panics when they get a couple inches.

And if I can get away without going out I do too!

Here in MI we have had our share of snow over the years, but I don't recall any quite as deep as you talk about, Janet!!

Good memories, Janet, and I hope it isn't like that for you this Christmas.

I remember on snow of my childhood where (I thought) it was up to the rooftop (l). Mom was stuck in the house with three little girls and Dad was stuck at work. This was before TV or house phone. Us little girls crying to go out and play, Mom crying for her sanity, Dad snow locked in the tavern (l).
