Odd day

After canceling my train trip North, my intention was to stop by the open house at DGrDs, just 15 miles away. But, snow started coming down, temp was just above freezing, then temp dropped and everything started to freeze. Got to the point where it didn't seem wise to venture out on the roads - besides, we had seen everyone and exchanged gifts last night. DS sent home baked ham for DH to enjoy today, I told him to have half of it for lunch today, as my plan was to get Chinese takeout. Well, the weather put an end to that plan, and by that time it was too late to thaw meat. So, I made a pot of mac & cheese. DH had it as a side dish to the last of the ham, I added turkey pepperoni to mine and that was supper. Our neighbor dropped off a box of candy last evening, so that was dessert. Spent most of the day watching holiday movies to the point that I am thoroughly saturated and can wait another year to see them again. Santa brought me a fantastic music box with big disks and ballroom dancers waltzing inside. Tomorrow's job will be to find a place on a shelf for this one. Santa will have to stop this soon, because I'm running out of room. My DB in FL called to report it was 65 & raining. DSis in No. IL called to ask me why she works herself to death every year for the big feast and is exhausted before the first guest arrived. She was still wearing yesterday's PJs when she called at 2 PM!

So it was a good day here, now I need to get out my New Year's cards. I'm to the point where I feel more inclined to send good wishes for the new year and not put myself in a tizz trying to get out Christmas cards on time. Now I can take time putting a personalized note in each one.

Sounds like our day....we were suppose to go to hubbys sister's house...but it was snowing like crazy....and raining where she lived(freezing rain/sleet)...so we stayed home and had snackies, cheese and crackers, and herring, and shrimp, and dips....and watched movies.....then got out and shoveled....Did some playing on the computer, and reading....so a different, quiet Christmas....talked to both our sons, and both moms and both sis-in-laws.....Hugs, Ruth

I'm glad you didn't venture out on the roads yesterday, Jacquie, it sounds very dangerous up there right now.
