Good morning, day after!

Hi Ladybugs. Did everyone survive the Christmas hustle and bustle?  We survived now trying to recooperate.  LOL

The dinner at my friend, Karen's house, last night went well. She was a little freaked out since she was having 22 people, but  she designated chores very well.

Was Santa good to you?  He supplied me with yet one more electronic gadget to play with, a Kindle.  Now I can "really" travel light, no books, just the Kindle.  For those of you who don't know, it's like a  iPod, but it's about  5 x3 inches ,maybe a little larger and you can order books to download to it, thus carrying it with you whereever you go.  I like the fact that I can change the font size and make it bigger for these "old" eyes.  I've already downloaded a couple of books, some are even free.  BTW, you can download them w/0 even using a computer! Amazes me! You just push a little button and it has all of the books, magazines, newspapers listed.  Then you order it by pushing another button! Oh yes, I like my electronic toys.

It's raining very hard here and temps are rising.  It's supposed to be in the 50s today.

I have to take my DD's car in to get the windshield wipers fixed.  She came by a little while ago and traded cars with me so that she had to go to work. So NOW I get to drive her car with windshiled wipers that don't work! At least I don't have very far to go, just a few blocks away.

The rest of the day? Guess I'll just be playing with my toys.

Hope you all have a great day!

Ooh - a kindle, I'm so jealous. DH always reminds me that prices on new electronics will come down, so I'm trying to be patient.

I am printing our New Year's cards and envelopes, hope to get them in the afternoon mail pickup. With so many losses & sad situations, I've begun to feel bad about wishing folks a Merry Christmas, so have switched to the next holiday. Hope & health is what I really wish for all.

Having a light snowfall right now, car is still covered with ice. DH promises to clean it off so I can make a grocery run after lunch. Big turkeys are on sale and the butcher will saw them in 1/2 & rewrap if I smile sweetly. Ah, the things an old lady can get by with - LOL. Half a turkey is just the amount DH & I need, and I use the last one on the grill to mark the official beginning of Spring.

The younger DGrDs gave me the traditional amaryllis bulb which I need to get planted. Always adds a note of cheer in the middle of the cold days.

No visitors this year, as everyone locally is traveling this weekend. I will keep busy with a huge stack of movies which need to be written to the external media drive. It is just great to be able to push a button and browse the collection by genre.

Hi Shari,

I am tempted to get one of the new book readers. Barnes and Noble gave me literature on their version before Christmas, but they were already sold out. I worry about the font size with that small a screen. I'm concerned

Hugs,

Melissa

Nice spring tradition, eating the 1/2 turkey.

Katie, my eyesight isn't good at night either, and if it's raining, it's really BAD.

Shari, I wondered the same thing as Melissa.....about having to make the Kindle font so large (so I could read it!) that I could only get 6 words on a page...(lol, Melissa)....I'll be interested in reading more details about font size and "page" size.

How do you like the Beatles Wii, Melissa?
