Christmas past.....

My family and I had a wonderful Christmas.  My parents, DD and DSonIL, and DS were here for the big meal.  I made a seafood casserole and shrimp Creole, rice, and a salad.  Dessert was rum cake (one of my girlfriends made it for me) and a chocolate cake (my Mom brought it).  Simple meal, but very tasty.

DD and DSIL are still in town (staying with *his* parents this time since they stayed with us at Thanksiving), but my parents left yesterday and are safely back in SC now.  We didn't see DS yesterday because he had to work.

Yesterday afternoon DH and I went over to DSonIL's parent's house for a little party.   They grilled oysters outside (yes, it was a bit cold, but not unbearable) and there were also ham sandwiches and salad (because some of us...me, for one... don't eat oysters).  There were probably 25 people there, many I hadn't seen since DD and DSIL's wedding in 2006....nice time and a fun thing to do on the day after Christmas.  Plus, DSIL's sister and her DH were are in town (they live in Dallas) with their new 6-week old baby,  so we got to see her.  Adorable, of course, as all babies are.

DD and DSIL will be coming over to our house for dinner tonight, and I'll invite DS also.  I'll fix some grilled chicken and side dishes.  Tomorrow, DD and hubby will drive back home to NC.

Have a wonderful day, everyone.  I'll be back later to do more catching up here.

Hugs......

It sounds like such a wonderful magical Christmas with your family gathered around you. It was ok being with Merri and her family but it's not the same as being with your own family.

Those grilled oysters sound yummy. You eat the oyster stew on Christmas Eve don't you? At least they had an alternative for the non-oyster eaters. So the baby is a cutie huh?

Glad your parents are home safe and sound from all their travels.

BB, I am so happy that you have had such a wonderful holiday with your family and friends. You folks do eat a lot of seafood, don't you? LOL Our baby is 6 weeks today. They are sweet, aren't they? Some how this year, having a new one after 11 years, it just made Christmas so amazing. I sat there Christmas Eve just in awe of my blessings. My precious family with all the noise and laughter and grandchildren from ages 6 weeks to 20 years. My DS, the baby's father, is always a cut up and so funny. He was in rare form. With a new baby, he has all new material.--Pat

You are getting good mileage this holiday with Christmas being on a weekend and it all sounds like fun.

It sounds like a "story book Christmas".
So glad the weather cooperated and everyone made it there to enjoy it together.
