I am so tired

But it's a good tired. Spent last night in Indy, checked out the very cold hotel pool & very hot tub, slept on the sleeper sofa because the hotel beds were just too hard for my back. At least I got a decent night sleep. Today was hours at the Children's Museum, where every grandparent in the tri county area must have been. Luckily, the place is big and we didn't stand in too many lines. Got to the dinosaur exhibit this time, rode the indoor carousel, watch DGrD model in the Barbie exhibit (just for fun, not professional). They have a fantastic blown glass sculpture that runs 3 stories high. It is by Dale Chilhuly - check out his work on Google. I wish I could afford a piece.
Stuffed myself with White Castles on the way home. If you don't have a White Castle joint in your area you don't know why we refer to a specific menu item by that description. If you want a round thick burger on a bun, they have it. But if you want a small, soft square bun with a squarish patty of chopped meat and it's juices, topped with rehydrated onions and a dill pickle, it is just called a White Castle. Same as I had when I was a kid. Was accompanied by fried onion rings, which have changed over the years and were not as good. New menu item was sweet potato fries and I shared a box with the 2 DGrDs. Brought supper of corned beef sandwich from the fav deli for DH, so we are all full & happy.
It was nice riding with DS and chatting like we did when he was a teen. Found out we still have a lot in common.

Jacquie sounds like
Jacquie, you do have the best outings with your grands. I really must try to cultivate that same relationship with DGrS. I'm very invested in his sports activities, but we really should expand horizons. Time to add that to the 2010 calendar. Aren't you the one who goes on nature walks with the little ones?
Hugs,
Melissa
It's a balancing act to find places that expand their knowledge of the world and also provide just plain fun. DSs remember me telling them that our outings were another "adventure" and they looked forward to them. On the adventures with Grands, I try to introduce something new to them. Yesterday it was sweet potato fries - LOL. This summer it was the train rides. On the nature walks it's to dry a different path and look for signs of animal life, or certain rocks, etc.
I did this when I was still in the office, but it sure is a lot easier now that I've retired.
