This & that on a late Sunday afternoon..

I have been a lazy bum today, and do I feel one bit guilty about it?  Heck, no!

Both DD and DS called today, and I talked to my Mom and Dad yesterday -- everyone is doing well, no complaints......Life is good.

DH and I went to our final party of the season last night, the annual "UN-New Year's Eve" party, with our "old" group of friends, folks we've known for 35+ years.  There was so much good food, including the traditional black eyed peas and collard greens.  Yummy, all of it, and as always, it was great fun spending the evening with longtime friends.  There were about 20-22 people there.

I have to tell you about something strange that happened to me.  I ordered 2 pairs of Thorlo socks from Amazon.com.  That's the only brand of socks that I wear (for when I walk the 3-mile river trail or if I'm doing a 5K), because I've found them to be the best socks for endurance walking, by a long shot.  Anyway, they cost $13.00 a pair, not cheap, but like I said, when you walk as much as I do, you need good quality socks.  So I ordered the socks from Amazon, and the day before New Year's Eve, this fairly good size Amazon box is delivered to me.  Inside were not two PAIRS of Thorlo socks, there were two BOXES of the socks!  One box was full, with 6 pairs of socks in it and the other box had 5 pairs in it.  I looked at my receipt, and had only been charged for 2 *PAIRS* of the socks ($26.00)  instead of $143.00, which is what 11 pairs should have cost!

Hmmmm.....what to do....

Yes, I must admit that for a fleeting moment, I considered KEEPING the socks and not saying anything, but being an honest bug, I knew I coudn't do that without having a MAJOR guilty conscience.  So I contacted Amazon.  They sent me a "thank you for being honest" e-mail and a pre-paid shipping label, and asked if I would please mail the extra socks (9 pairs) back to them.  Of course, I will, but I can't help thinking......you would think they would have at least said to me, "Keep an extra pair for your trouble," (packaging, making trip to post office, etc.)but they didn't.....Bah Humbug!!!...lol.

I need to check on dinner....chicken in a red sauce, whole wheat pasta (yes, I am back on a diet ), and a salad.

Have a good evening, everyone.

(((BB)))

A woman after my heart. I've been known to walk back into a store to return too much change. (I always hated when my register was off. I couldn't do that to someone else.) You are commended for your honesty.

Hugs,

It's good to know there are a few honest people left in this world...but I DO agree with you! Why didn't they let you keep a pair of extra socks!!!???? Blah to them!

Awwww, what a sweet "sock" story - best I've heard today. LOL
I'm thinking the two pairs of socks that you bought will last much LONGER than they normally would - because of your honesty.

BB, I'm glad you had a good, lazy day, talking to all your family and being assured they are well and happy. That's always a good feeling, isn't it?

Love the idea of a unNew Years Eve party. It sounds like a really great get together. Did you have to stay up until midnight? lol

That is strange about the socks. I have found that sometimes trying to do
