It will definitely be a 2 person snow removal job here this AM. Winds will roar in early afternoon. So glad I have my unfashionable, fleece lined, waterproof boots. My DILs laugh, but I doubt they'll get far in their 3" unlined leather boots today - LOL. As predicted, all schools are closed, so no tutoring for me. Must take some sinus meds soon, because my head is throbbing.

Our cat loves watching the snow. He goes from window to window, whining for me to open the blinds. Of course, he's also the cat that sits on the sofa & watches the local weather channel every morning. Weirdest thing.

We will have a 2 hour window between when snow stops coming down & winds start blowing, so that' when we'll tackle the drive. We live on a main street and plows will keep dumping snow in the front of our drive until it's a small mountain if we don't keep after it.

I picked up a ham on sale on Weds and will get it roasting later. I am always saying I want to be snowed in for a few days so I can concentrate on projects and it's gonna happen. I do love the brightness in my hobby room. The white blinds reflect and the red walls are cheery.

Do you freeze chili with beans? I've tried it with navy bean soup and the beans got a bit mushy.

Hi Pam,

You can come to my house for chili anytime. I too use the Chili-O mix, hamburger, tomatoes and beans. For variety I cook macaroni and make chili-mac or cook rice and serve over the rice. I never had enough to freeze before LOLOL. But now with my kids gone I just might.

Hugs,

Just the can of beans is 6 pounds 14 ounces, so you can imagine how much chilli I'm making!

Okay, now that I see you use canned beans, maybe that was my problem. I cooked from scratch & they got watery. Looking forward to cooking the ham bone with pinto beans on another blustery day. That's one of the advantages of being retired - I have the time to cook a dish on the range in my fav Dutch oven, then cool it to skim off the fat overnight, then eat next day. DH swears any bean dish tastes better the 2nd & 3rd day anyway.

BTW - the applesauce oatmeal bread turned out so good, I plan on baking another one with the ham today. DH declared he didn't miss the holiday cookies now that he had a slice of the bread to satisfy his sweet tooth.
