Good morning to all!
Today is supposed to be a good(meaning no snowfall) day so I will try to get all my errands done, plus my 15 yr old DD Jamie has a dentist appt 3pm. We live about 10 miles out of town, sometimes it takes planning so you don't end up making 2 or 3 trips.
Great news- my oldest DD Julie has passed her PRAXIS I!!!!!!!
Not so great news- my hospital is cutting our vacation time accrual by 25%. BAH!
But its better than layoffs. Hope they don't change our 401 k management- we have Fidelity and I think they are a good company. They have already downgraded our company match. Oh well, like I said, at least we still have jobs!
In 30 yrs of being an RN I have never seen it like this. Jobs are tight even for experienced RNs.
I'm sure most of us are feeling the pain of this economy( or lack there of.)
Have a good day friends- TTYL!

Yes, times are tough for a lot of people right now.
Beck, hope you got everything done and made it to the dentist. Of course, I'm sure your dd was not happy about it..lol. Of course, mine never gave me problems with the dentist, so maybe yours didn't either.
You are so right. At least we have a job. Everyone at work is fussing about their hours being cut, but goodness, at least we have a job. Hopefully things will get better. But I'm sure it's going to be slow going until it does.
Hope your day was good.
(((hugs)))

Hi Beck...I don't think I have welcomed you to the board yet...so hi! I'm Blu from the far n/w burbs of Chicago, IL and have been posting on this board for a little over 10 years now. I love these ladies.
It's good to see you have jumped up here and started your own thread. So many of our "newbies" say hi and never come back. I was so surprised to hear you say that the bad economy has hit your line of work too. I thought healthcare was pretty much the only are that had escaped the recession. I lost my job over a year ago (early Jan. '09) and it seems all the openings I find are in the healthcare field...nursing and occupational therapy, etc. I would have been SO happy if they had just cut back on either the 401K or benefits a little instead of chopping heads at the first sign of trouble...but noooooo. It's been horrible being over 60 and trying to find a job in this economy...but I'm not giving up. I can't.
Congrats to your DD on passing her PRAXIS I.
Again...good to have you here!
So your eldest DD is wanting to become a teacher, eh, Becky?
I there!
