OK ladies, I'm asking for any help you can offer. When I moved in with SO, I 'inherited' the shower and shower doors. I think we can probably all agree that shower doors are a pain to clean to begin with, and these had been neglected (the house was basically unoccupied) for a year before I moved in. I've tried and tried but CANNOT get these doors clean and 'clear'! Any suggestions????????

I'm sure someone here will give you the best product for removing the crud. Just test a small area to see if it will scratch. I'm still fighting this problem.

But - when you DO get them clean, try washing them down with cheap shampoo and a nylon scrubber when you shower. The shampoo seems to leave a coating that helps repel water.

I HATE my shower doors...nothing but a pain in the neck and ugly. I just recently inherited my parents home and am trying to figure out inexpensive ways to update it. One of my main projects is the bathroom. I want my shower doors GONE! I asked someone about getting them removed and researched it on the web. It's not that big of deal. I can't wait to get rid of them and go back to a shower curtain.

"If" you decide to stay with them and figure out how to clean them...I suggest hanging a squeegy in the shower and using it after every shower. That has worked wonders for my shower and I know my bff uses it in hers. A simple solution.

When we moved into our house there was a tub. Well we had 7 people 5 teens and 2 adults and no one took a bath. EVER. It was showers. Well, since the house was only 4 years old when we bought it we just took the tub out and put in a plastic shower stall. It had a door on it not clear, just one of those ugly cloudy things. But, since the outlet was above the wall of this thing I said we will put on a shower head hose thing. We liked it like that. Everyone was told when they were done with their shower that they were to run very warm or hot water over the walls and door of the shower and then dry it down....Which was for the most part left to the last one to take a shower in the run........lol....that would be me most of the time...and we were good about doing this......

So where in the heck does all that soap crap come from? I know it is a cheap shower but I tried everything that you could use on plastic. Finally, and since it was getting old I took the razor blade scraper to it. While it did work.... it was not fun. And if it was just the shower door that was bad I would would have taken it off and put up curtains (Shudder, I remember the years of kids and shower curtains and wet bathroom floors, I am trying to forget that part of my life.) Anyway, We have retired and spend the summers in our camper. When we quit camping we will remodel. But right now I do know that the bath room will be the first thing. I think we are going to go ahead and start buying things like the shower, toilet and vanity when we find something that will fit and we can afford. That way all we will have to do is get the plumber here and the floor guy at the same day so I won't have to go down town to go to the bathroom.....lol...

But, I do know that I am getting glass doors and not plastic.

Have fun....

Shirley Sue, Thanks for the link. I was going to try to cornstarch but didn't get to it over the weekend. In the meantime, I was walking by the shower with a used dryer sheet in my hand (on my way to the trashcan) and thought "hmmmm....that was one of the tips", so I wet it (even though it was used) and rubbed it on a small spot. Checked this morning and that one spot is still clean. Who'd a-thought it!?
