Dropping in - long

So much going on than I'm wondering where the days go. Most of it is good - new furbaby to love, quilt wall hanging almost completed, good news on Haiti situation, glad DS is waiting to go down. I got carried away scanning family photos and it seems to never end. Trying to multi-task scanning with quilting led to a major boo-boo, so it's confirmed - I can't multi-task anymore. Been working at making dinners big enough for leftovers the next night. Just got sick of cooking AND cleaning.

Bad part of the last few weeks has been shoulder/wrist/hand pains. Shoulder pain was keeping me awake at night - every time I turned, it hurt. Typing was difficult, but sewing on the machine didn't bother me much. I assumed it was arthritis, because I'm very aware these days of my advancing age - grrrr. Then I realized it was evenly spread on both sides and that it was more like pulled muscle. Traced it to the exercises at Curves, stayed away for the last week and pains are diminishing. Don't know whether it was just weak muscles, or that's the kind of stain I shouldn't be putting on my crooked skeleton.

Also been involved in getting estimates for concrete drive we plan on putting in to replace ancient gravel drive. As DH's hearing is so bad, I must do all the phone talking, plus be here when rep arrives to visit. Oh yes, finished my part of the taxes, now DH must get the business part done. One happy surprise was that Govt. thinks our income level is so low that they are returning $1,000 I had withheld from an IRA distribution last year -LOL. Also good news that our car insurance went down $100 from 2008. I was sure it would go up when DH turned 70.

Flying to FL late next week to visit DB (the one who was in intensive care for 18 months) for a few days, then on to AL to visit DSis. I think DSis & her DH are planning a road trip to casinos on Gulf Coast, so it should be fun. Now I must dig out some warm weather clothes and see what I can fit into. Seems no matter how hard I THINK I try, I spread a little more each Winter. All I know is that whatever size I am, I'm getting out of town. Hope it's so warm there that I am FORCED to go clothes shopping - LOL. The snow days that closed the schools have kept me from getting out to tutor and result is a little too much together time with DH.

So, that's all from my corner of the world. BTW - no tremors in mid-IL - we had our quake in late 60s.

I think one of the problems is one of the trainers who keeps encouraging me to up the reps, go faster, etc. I'm going back, but at my pace.

DH is definitely NOT going on this trip. I'm so grateful to have relatives who live in warm climates.

I will miss the cats....

Hey Jaybee458, I am a fitness instructor. It sounds to me like you might have pulled a muscle. If it was just a sore (overworked) muscle, it would go away in 3 days. If it's a pulled muscle then it could take 3 weeks. I'm not an expert, but that's my opinion! Here's a suggestion: get a fitness assessment by a personal trainer to see what you need to work on, and what you need to be careful with. He/she can tell you if you have any muscle imbalances, and what you need to concentrate on. Just a thought! Enjoy your trip to Florida!

Hi Jacquie -
Glad you've figured out why you're having the shoulder pain.
Sometimes "slow & easy" does it, after all you want to be feeling in top shape for your trip.
