I will type a shorter version of what the strange thing was.

Friends with business and 5 computers started them yesterday and 3 of them wouldn't start up just get started and then reboot over and over.

They called Norfolk and told them and they said yes you got a virus from the Windows update........????

Janet, I thinks it's a virus that "looks like" a Windows update. You click on it and it downloads the virus. Katie will have to confirm this but I've heard of a couple other that have gotten the virus this way too.

I remember something about this too. My updates are set to run automatically and then I get a message to restart my computer. I think the whole virus update thing is the reason my DSiL set my updates to automatic. That way only the real updates got through.

Oh my, you would expect a regular person to click on an "update from Microsoft" that they get in regular mail but not the Police and Hospital.....LOL......There is hope for us yet isn't there....because we all know that MS don't send things like that to our email....They should know that shouldn't they?

You sure it was an email and not a pop-up kind of notification? Mine came as an "alert" window and looked VERY official.

Yes, we're all still learning.

They said that they went to start all the computers in the morning and 3 of them wouldn't boot. And that no one did anything like open an email or anything. I talked to some people from Norfolk and they didn't know what I was talking about and you would think that if it involved the police and hospital someone would know about it.

Anyway our friend took computers down this morning and she hadn't heard anything from them as to what it was. But I still think it was something someone did otherwise everyone would have gotten it you would think...unless the viruses are getting picky and choosing who they infect.....lol

I will let you know when I hear something..
