Flag without a light.....

As much as I hate to fly my flag at night without a light shining on it I had no choice Friday night. The wind was blowing snow something terrible and the light had a good 16 to 18 inches of snow on top of it! I was NOT going to wade out there to uncover it either! I could see the glow under the snow, but it was not making it through it to shine on the flag!
I did that yesteday though. I took the shovel with me but didn't use it till I had struggled out to the pole. That white stuff is the *heavy* kind!!! There was none of this just shuffling through the stuff like you can with the fluffy kind. I waded through a couple of drifts that were about 3' deep. Fortunately, with it being the really heavy stuff, it was packing down under my feet as I stepped onto it - so I was never down in more than about 20" of it! But if I hadn't had my shovel to use as a walking stick I might have gotten myself in a fallen-down state and got stuck out there! When one's foot is stuck in 16" to 20" of snow it is difficult to lift up and over the stuff to make the next step! Coming back to the house I walked in my footprints and still needed my shovel to keep me from tipping over!
This ain't the fun kind of snow!! Unless you are a skiier or a snow-shoer!!
I sure do hope this is the last we'll see this season and that spring is truly right around the bend. But I won't hold my breath on that hope!
The streets are clear and my driveway hasn't drifted in too badly, so I'll be able to get out tomorrow to run some errands that need to be done.

You are loved ~~ far more than you may ever know!

Bless you for worrying about flag etiquette in 20+ inches of wet snow. I'm proud to know just that you have a flag flying. I haven't ever gotten around to setting a holder into the brick on my house. It's a shortcoming I regret every holiday that calls for a flag. I need to work on finding someone to put that holder up. Glad you were able to uncover the light without getting stuck.
Hugs,
Melissa
That deserves a congratulations Katie girl. I haven't even plowed through the stuff to feed my birdies and they have abandoned me for greener pastures. Mama Blu would be upset with me.
Good for you!!!
KT glad you were able to uncover your light safely.
