Have you ever seen a house moved?
| Mon, 03-01-2010 - 9:54am |
Someone in the town just to the north of me moved their house and it was captured on video. One day (years ago) I headed up town and the main street was closed because a huge home was being moved right down the middle of it!! It's really quite interesting if you've never seen it done. It takes a lot of preparation.

Hope the link works.

I hadn't thought about this in years, but when I was a kid my parents bought an old house and had it moved onto some property and used it as rental property.
I guess you know that I have a story about that...lol
Back in the early
Yes indeed, three times as a matter of fact!
Many, many times. Small shed type buildings, one story houses, 2 story houses and churches one with the steeple and one with it removed. Brick ones and wood ones...Everyone knows when they will be moved because the paper and the radio station probably tv too but I don't get local anymore..all warn that your lights will be out between this and that time because they are moving something... sometimes they are able to just lift the lines other times they have to take them down for the building to pass... I have also gone and watched them get one ready and load one. A lot of work goes into to the whole process......none the less....it is still awesome to see one coming down the country road or the highway......
I'm loving reading all your house moving stories! They're great! Thanks for sharing.
Oh yeah, several times, and it's always exciting.
I agree, Blu, that it is an awesome sight.
