Time will tell how well this "Ultimate Grounding" (from TV, Cell phone, land phone, iPod, Computer) will work in bringing up Princess' grades, but I'm getting a very good vibe. You'll notice I'm not declaring victory just yet though.  She seems to be doing homework, AND she has actually read a complete book and cleaned her room (closet & shelving) immaculately.  She's really bored and there's not much else for her to do.  Her attitude is immensely better too.  Yesterday we  (Princess, DH and I) went to the movie to see "Dear John", run some errands and then out for Mexican Food.  She laughed, she chatted and was generally great fun to be with.  Today?  OK, but not as good as yesterday.

We've also had a couple of really good "heart to heart" talks.  It's staggering at the pressure teens are under today.  Trust me, things have CHANGED a lot since we were in school and from when we raised our kids in the 70's/80's.

Trees are in bloom here and I painted my toenails last night - so it must be SPRING!  I'm looking to decorate the house for Easter tomorrow...Also, the Granddolls left a message on our phone asking if they could come visit in July!  Of course I said NO.  *giggle*  Can't wait to get them here for some prolonged FUN!!

Time for me to make some plans for Summer vacation too.
Gotta get busy!

Even though no one will listen to us.....Kids WANT rules and lines.... and to know that if they step over the line or break a rule they have to pay... From now on you should just have to say.... if you want to keep your (items) you know what has to be done and she will know. Or she pays.......it is good for her in the mean time and good for your and her in the long run...Some day she will thank you....don't expect that real soon, but it sounds like she is a fast learner....

Deb, I'm glad things are better. I remember life with a teenage girl. Somedays they will talk about anything and the next they've got nothing to say. We take what we can get, don't we? How fun to look forward to July and the granddolls!--Pat

It sounds as if the Princess is taking this all 'in stride' and may well learn a valuable lesson from it.
