Even though until Saturday night I was, I thought, winning the battle with this thing it caught up with me over the weekend. By Monday morning I gave in and headed out to see Dr. J. Pneumonia, he says. I am now taking Levaquin and a heavy duty cough suppressant.....and feeling really crappy! The worse part of it is that my body is aching from lying down! Now how dumb is that?!!!! Miss Molly is hovering and doing her best to comfort me - while lying on me, of course!
I actually missed my first TOPS meeting today since I took over being the leader. Since I have been told this stuff is *highly* contagious I felt it best to stay away. I am also missing my "class" lunch this month because of it (it was scheduled for today too!).
I am pumpling fluids and trying to eat regularly - though my food choices are probably not especially good for my 'diet'! I bought some Cozy Shack tappioca and rice puddings to eat!!!!
I don't think I've ever had pneumonia before. Bummer. The one other time I thought I had it, it turned out to be blood clots in my lungs right after the accident I had years ago.
But on the more pleasant side of things........ our snow is all gone and the temps are pushing 50 during the day right now. Today it is even a bright sunny day!! That makes looking out the window a welcome sight!

You are loved ~~ far more than you may ever know!

So glad you got some treatment for the real problem. Our MD insists his senior patients get the vaccine and I'm grateful every time we get a cold. I figure at least that's one thing I don't need to worry about.
Don't worry about the food choices right now. If you're like I was with this cold, I had no appetite to speak of, so you won't be eating all that much. I was eating cream of tomato soup with crackers for days - everything else tasted like sawdust.
Isn't it nice to have furbabies who can't catch what you have? You can hug them with impunity.
hugs,
Jacquie
Thank goodness you went in to see the doctor and that they got you in quickly.
I didn't know that pneumonia was contagious.

Oh Kt! I'm with Deb on the eat what ever tastes good idea. You need all of the nutrition you can swallow to give your body the energy to fight pneumonia. And the "contageous" part depends on what bug is causing the illness, but certainly you don't want to ignore pneumonia and hope that it will go away on its own. The shot only protects against a specific bacterial pneumonia, but it is the most common recurring type which is why a vaccine was able to be developed. Rest a lot. Between the cough and the antibiotics you will feel really worn out and it does take a long time to get well. Take care and feel better soon.
Hugs,
Melissa
Oh darn Katie...I'm so sorry you've got pneumonia! My brother just over it too. He sounded horrible when I talked to him. I've had a pneumonia shot but it was about 4 years ago...don't know how long they last. I'm so glad you decided to see Dr. J.
Sorry you're missing all your fun stuff.
Yes, isn't it wonderful looking out and NOT seeing snow!!! Love it!! I didn't even wear a jacket to work today...it was around 56* here and just beautiful!
Feel better soon kiddo.
You sound like you feel really rotten.
Thanx, everyone for your concern and kind words!
