Took a bus trip up to Marysville last week. This one town that was wiped out in the bushfires here in Victoria, last year when 173 people died. It was sad to see gateposts with letter boxes but the block had been cleared. The idea was that we paid for the bus trip and then spent money at the business that were there. The bakery was the only business that was saved. So we had lunch at the bakery, salad roll and apple pie followed by coffee. Then my BF and I shopped. I found a ladybird money box for me and a cow one for DD. Piccalilli for my sister who was sick and couldnt come with us. A t-shirt for DS. Could not think of anything for DH so I bought some cakes for him. He said he didn't mind.

Had a great day, the journey was an education. Some of the trees are coming back others dead.

Hope all is well up there,

Lesley J

Thank you for sharing, Lesley. We lived in Melbourne for 17 years, but only actually visited Marysville once by memory. It was a lovely place, realy charming. We had lunch at an old fashioned boarding house - set menu (roast lamb, I think) sitting at a large table
