Weekend Plans?

How is your weekend shaping up!  Anything interesting planned?  Perhaps you are one of the lucky ones and are able just to kick back and relax!  LOL

Well we are done with open house for another year.  We had a nice crowd of farmers but sales were really down.  It is a sign of the present economy.

Yesterday I worked at the nursing home and during my lunch break I walked down to the Post Office to mail off a birthday card to DGS. I can not believe he is 8 years old already!  Where does the time go?

The accountant has our tax return ready to file.  That is always a good job to get done.  This year I was so busy that I just...again...walked down town on my lunch break at the nursing home and dropped the papers at his office.  He finished it up and then we reviewed it over the phone.

Now it's real estate taxes.

Today I'll be at the shop.  There is nothing going on this weekend except a bridal shower 5 tomorrow afternoon.  I forgot to pick up some groceries after work last night so I'll have to make due with what our grocery store offers when I put together the salad.

Just to show you how much things cost.  I had a jug of syrup for my bars.  It had a price of $3.79.  The store here in town was selling the same brand for $5.29.  Hmmm.  It is very nice though to have a store in town as it would be 35 miles to get groceries otherwise.  That's a long way to go for a dozen eggs!  LOL

Well, I suppose I had better go down to the shop and see what all I have to do down there.  I know there will be lots of putting away for Open House and I also have to pay bills today.  I'll be lucky to be done by 5:30.

DH is busily prepping for annual model RR show at the Mall, will be gone most of Sat. That means I'll have the house to myself. Cranking up the stereo with my Barry Manilow & Michael Feinstein music that he hates - LOL. If he's not too tired, we'll head to a local pub that is having a live blues band we like. Sadly, they don't start until 9 PM, so it's dicey weather we'll still be awake after such a busy day.

Weather should be great, so some yard work will get done in between sitting on the deck. I'm reading Pat Conroy's "South Beach Road". His sentences are so crammed with words that I often go back and re-read them. Love his portrayal of the South.

Got to get offline & decide whether to walk outside, or do WiiFit. Decisions, decisions.

Del has been working every day. So this Sunday he has to cut a piece of a project out of wood for a friend and then we are going to get the pick up packed...it has some stuff in already. So that when the stuff he can get done where he is working is under control we can load food shut off the lights and lock the doors and be gone.

That won't be till at least Tuesday because he has a meeting Monday night. But then they are predicting T-storms for Tues,Wed and Thurs. And the temps just are't going up very much. Only in the mid 60s or so.

I know what you mean about the store. We are 20 miles from the nearest bigger store and 55

I had hoped to work out in the yard this weekend but Mother Nature had other plans. We have had cold and winds up to 50+ miles an hour along with snow/hail/rain over the last couple of days. This is after a March that saw temperatures close to 60. Yesterday morning, when I went out to feed my animals at 6:00, the wind was blowing with enough force that my 300+ pound barn doors were flapping out and back against the barn and it was raining so hard that my barn cats were so spooked that they didn't want anything to do with me when I went in. It is still windy today and was below 30 when I went up to get the paper at 7. It should get to 40+ today but the wind makes it feel so much colder.

We watched a pine tree being uprooted by the wind at the college, just across the lawn from our office. Spokane had lots of trees downed and quite a number of people lost power. Luckily that didn't happen here.

I felt the need for a three-day weekend so took today off. Just spent half an hour on the phone with IRS to figure out why I hadn't received my refund yet. Discovered I neglected to put my daughter's SS# on the form and they had changed me to single and showed me owing. Really nice guy was able to fix it over the phone. Talk about a dumb error!

I have paperwork to go through and really should tackle some inside projects so today is probably the day for that. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the 50s so may get out to do some yard work then. Sunday we go back to rain so will probably use that day to go to town and do some shopping and visit my favorite Thai restaurant.

I am looking out at one of my bird feeders and there are quail, doves and red-winged blackbirds visiting today.

You all have a great weekend.

Good morning Jacquie,

I really enjoy Pat Conroy too. I loved The Prince of Tides and The Lords of Discipline. I just picked up The Water is Wide and The Great Santini and hope I like them as well. I read Beach Music quite a while ago and may need to revisit that one. Have you read any of those? How long has South Beach Road been out? I just looked on Amazon and can't find it. I am waiting for his new one - South of Broad - to come out in paperback. I find an author I like and start looking for the rest of their books. Yes, I am a book hoarder! When my son moves out, his area will probably become an extension of my library.

Enjoy your weekend.

At some point tomorrow there will be little boy (DGS) baseball. He should have practice in the morning and/or maybe a game in the afternoon. He missed practice Tuesday night so I don't know the schedule.

For sure the lawn mower has to get used this weekend. Texas is warm and green and the weeds are raging out of control. All of my iris have bloom stalks up and will be in full bloom in a day or two. We've had no rain, so the patio garden will need water. I really want to finish weeding the herb garden before I water though. Sending warm and sunny thoughts to all ladybugs who are still enduring winter temperatures.

Hugs,

Oh shoot. It IS South of Broad! I didn't have it in front of me and got it mixed up with Beach Music! Did I forget to tell you my aging brain tends to scramble things :) I found the hardcover edition at the local library and grabbed it. I think I will need to renew it, because I keep getting called away with other Spring chores.

I understand the aging brain part. I don't know how many times over the last few months that I have picked up a book that looks good, got home and started reading and it sounds familiar. Check my library and I already have it! I have started carrying copy of the list in the front of my favorite authors' books with the ones I have crossed out.

By the way, I was complaining to my internist about all of the things that get blamed on our aging bodies. He is a few years younger than I am. He said he prefers to call it "maturing". Sounds good to me. Unfortunately, I have been maturing for a long time now.

Have a good weekend.
