It is raining here this morning, and I am so happy. Finally we may get rid of all of this pollen that has been making so many people miserable. But looking around the city, it is very beautfiul. The trees seem so much greener, and the other flora is so lush. The azaleas are gorgeous this year.
DD2 went to her prospective college Sunday for an orientation. She got to spend the night in a dorm and attend college classes with her hostess yesterday. They were given a taste of things to come including a fire alarm that went off early yesterday morning when one of the girls accidentally burned a biscuit. (I remember having to get up in the middle of the night on several occasions because some jokester thought it would be funny to pull the fire alarm.) At least I know that the fire alarms in the dorms work). She is so excited and can hardly wait to get started. I have to admit that it's all coming home to me that my "baby" will be out on her own in just a few months, even though she will still be in the city, but it is not the same.
Hello to all of you. Hope that things are going well.
Hugs,
Dannie

I remember my DMIL telling me that our job was to "keep them safe until they are grown, then watch them leave the nest". Always wondered if Mama bird is sad.
That said, our experience with grown men friends who never left home was very said. DH had 2 buddies from HS who never had a serious relationship. One turned to alcohol & died in early 30s, the other is now 71, alone and totally miserable. He was so sad when his dog died that he waited 2 days to call the animal removers.
Our eldest DS stopped by this morning and said he has told the 2 adult stepsons living with them AND DSs best buddy that when DS retires in 2 years, he wants the house for just him, DDIL & their cats. The boys were gone for a few months last Winter and they got a taste of what it could be like when alone. Bad move on the boys part - the parents really enjoyed it :)

Dannie everything is "popping" here. My azaleas just popped out and are looking gorgeous. It's good to see everything blooming. But we have had some right chilly mornings here. But it gets nice in the afternoon.
I bet your DD is soooooooooo excited. Such a wonderful adventure for her. I know you will miss her. But since she is not that far away, maybe it won't be too bad.
Good to see you here in the garden.
(((hugs)) SS
What an exciting time for your DD.
She's testing her wings and beginning her climb
into adulthood.
Dannie, I bet DD had a blast. Even with the fire alarm. lol
You'll do Ok after she leaves.

You know what an awful mother I was...I helped them pack.....lol
Maybe it was because I was younger when I had them but I always figured that if they went out on their own and didn't come back I did a good job. OMG I just thought if they came back they would have been mine to keep? YIKES.... glad that didn't happen.
I get to see 3 out of 5 very often but my oldest son and DD2 call me every month unless there is something going on......
I do know one mother that cried for weeks after her last one left......he told her one time that he was only 20 miles away he didn't die........lol.......
we got a lot of wind last night here. a limb fell from one of the trees and hit the roof. it was too dark for dh to see if there was any damage. guess we will find out when he gets home.
the azaleas are just about done here, but thank goodness they were still blooming when we got home. they were glorious to see!!
oh my s is going off to college. that child grew up fast. it's always hard to let them go.
