Update on Donna and her travels.

It's been an interesting few days for me.  Wed our boss of 13 years announced to us that she was leaving our company for another company!  It was a shock.  It will be interesting for all of us dept heads to work for a different boss after all of these years. ]

Wed nite I packed the car forMy thursdya journey consulting T and visiting my folks in the SE part of the state.  Because of the all the happenings at the nursing home with our boss's announcement and the fact that it was the Volunteer luncheon I was late leaving town on Thurs night.  I left the nursing home at 5 for my 5 hour drive.  I was one tired girl and was almost in tears when I got in the car.  Somehow I made it down there.

I spent the nites on the couchthis weekend at my folks. ( my bed at home here is looking pretty good.  My mom does not have a tub and I missed my nightly soaks)   My Mom is on the depressed and whiny side.  My dad did not recognize me.  My work at the nursing home went pretty good though.  Suprisingly my mom did let me take her over to my brothers to see his new addition on his house.  It is just lovely.  It reminds me of a beach house.  Huge windows facing the water.  (not an ocean but a slough LOL)  but still very pretty with all the wildlife and beautiful SD sunrises.  He has planted trees from my folk's farm as well as other trees.  Many many different varieties.  It's just a great place to go.  My niece has recently been to Mexico and Guatemala and my mom sat and looked at each and every picture.  She was able to make them out on the computer.  It's amazing.  She did not have to take a nap!  The woman needs to get out of the house more often.

This morning my mom was back to her normal self.  Moaning with each step she took.  As I was about ready to leave, at the last minute she was commenting that the check book needed to be balanced so I did that right before I left.  I was short with her and I was not real happy when we parted.  I really talked assisted living to her this weekend and she argued with me that would get the same care at home.  She has a whole house but sits in a dark bed room all day long.

I was so frustrated when I got home that I hopped right in the car with DH and we went looking for lawn mowers and then I said I wanted to go to the Casino and that is what we did, even on Sunday!  We spent about an hour there with the one armed bandits.  LOL

Weatherwise we have had some really really nice weather.  Right now a cold front has moved in and it's cloudy, windy and kinda rainy out.  But Hey!  it's spring and I can't complain! The grass is green!  I see our neighbor has tulips.  The trees are turning colors.  I believe it's pollen, boy are they loaded with pollen this year.

Tommorrow I'll find out what I missed at the nursing home on Friday.  The big boss was coming, since I was working in another building I missed out on that.  Perhaps that was a good thing????

I guess I have rambled enough and  vented enough for now.   LOL

Ohhhh Donna,
Where to begin. . .

What a shocker on your job.
There's so much uncertainty that comes with that sort of thing.

Oh Donna...what a few days you've had. Sure wish we could move Bugfest up to next week for you. You need a vacation and some gf hugs...and LOTS of laughs!!! I know that kind of weariness where you just want to cry...I can't believe you got in the car and drove for 5 hours feeling that way...and then slept on a couch! I truly don't know what you're made of that keeps you going at that pace.

I'm sure that announcement from your boss was a shocker! I hope your new leader is nice and easy to get along with.

The addition on your brother's house sounds wonderful. What a peaceful setting to unwind in. So glad your Mom was "present" and responsive. I'm so sorry your father didn't know you...that's so sad.

You have so much on your plate...per usual. Please take some time to rest friend.

Hugs...

Dearest Donna - as usual I am amazed at just how much you pack in to a day or two! I read your message last night, but was too tired to respond, then, sorry. Such a pity about your Mom, I was feeling whiny this morning and it made me laugh at myself - which was a good thing. DS1 came over this morning early with a breakfast roll from a take away, it was great to see him. He's been in Oz since Sunday 18th and I've seen him almost every day. He really made an effort this time, and I certainly appreciate it. Right now he is flying back to Thailand, and back to school tomorrow.

It must have hurt like hell when your Dad didn't recognise you, but I do know that you understand. I guess that you'll feel a bit tentative at work for a while with new higher level boss etc. Thank goodness that you had the casino break, and the signs of Spring to lift you. Your brother's house sounds brilliant, you described it so well - thank you for sharing. Love and hugs, Jenni
