The sick-o is better!

It seems like forever since I felt up to even sitting at the computer - for more than a very few minutes at a time anyway.  First there was the pneumonia that was dragging me down . Then there was the major time demands of Victorian Day.  Then I got a crazy UTI that has kept me wanting to sleep every minute I can!  When I saw Dr. J about the bladder infection he laughingly asked me "you been getting some sex?" !  I'd have shot him if I didn't know exactly 'where' that question came from!  But I had to admit that that was not the case - that I had been forced to use a Poise pads when the coughing from the pneumonia was wreaking havoc with my bladder control, and that I was sure that the couple of really long days on my feet at VD where I could not change pads as often as I would have liked to was the culprit.  Another side effect from all of this sleepiness is that I now am having a terrible time trying to fall asleep at night - kindo' like "restless leg syndrome" all over my body!  Grrrrr.

I have pretty much been a sloth for the past couple of weeks.  It seems as if just the effort of working on the presentations for my TOPS  group has been about Ill the energy I could expend.  The Cipro that Dr. J gave me for the UTI seems to be working now and I am in a lot less discomfort when sitting here anyway.  My lungs are clear now so breathing is much easier!

Victorian Day went quite well.  Try as we might, the bodice of Syl's dress was not quite ready that morning, so I stitched her into it!  (only the button holes were missing!!!)  It threatened to rain early in the morning but that went away and didn't come back until around 8:30 or 9:00 in the evening.  By then most everything was done anyway! We have our 'wrap up' meeting next Wednesday.  I fully expect that our committee chair person will  be telling us that there will be no parade next year.  She often spends hours making calls trying to line up parade participants!!  It is just too difficult to find folks with horse drawn vehicles who are willing to come out that early in the year for a parade.  Their horses have been cooped up all winter and are not ready to pull parade duty!  The one fellow we have always depended on - the one with the mules that were used in the making of "Dances With Wolves"  - had  open heart surgery this spring and was not able to be with us!  She does think that we may luck out and get the fees waived for the  use of the Island Park again though!

Do you remember all my carping about the ditch at the north end of my yard?  Well, it never got properly fixed and the fence that closed off access to the highway didn't get put back in place either.  This week I had to go out and chase some little kids out of that area.  I watched them cross the end of my yard, busy picking the wild flowers, and as they went past the end of the fence I ran out.  I explained to them that it was dangerous out there!!  Then I went the next day to City Hall to let them know that unless they didn't want a child to die from wandering out onto the highway they needed to put that fence back in place immediately.  I had already put it mostly back, but just don't have the physical strength to pull it tightly into place anymore.   Now it is just watch and see, I guess!!!

Sorry about the whining, ladybugs, but I knew you'd all understand!

Now I'll go try to catch up with all your posts and promise to do my best to not be so "absent"  again!

You are loved ~~ far more than you may ever know!

Katie, all you've described certainly doesn't sound like you - obviously it is the "not feeling good" that has kept you from enjoying the things you usually do this time of year.

The Garden just isn't the same when you're not here, Katie.

I have not felt so fatigued in a long time, Deb. I had been complaining to Dr. J about my constant tiredness and inability to stay awake.
