Speech problems

DD took grand #5 in for her check up since she just turned 3.  There is a hearing test to schedule.  The Dr. said that she isn't speaking clearly as usual for her age.  She seems to hear properly, but her speech is a bit off.  DD said that if she has a hearing or speech problem, oh well, we'll just deal with it.  Her birthday party is Sat.

R is having a big problem with headaches because of the constant rain.  The barometer changing seems to be the reason.  Her migraines have lessened.

One of the things that catches my eye is commercials.  The new car ones have been really great this year.  Progressive insurance can be funny.  The ones that I put a thumbs down to is the alarm company.  They show somebody breaking into a house, the alarm goes off, the person leaves.  The woman, and it has to be a woman of course, picks up the phone and says "Hello," waits until the man, of course, identifies himself and asks if everything is OK.  Now I don't know about you, but I'd answer the phone screaming for help.

One apt. today and just a few visits before returning home to get out of the heat. DS did talk to his boss about getting the AC.  DS is glad he has changed jobs.  The other company hasn't had work for two days.  This is their prime season.

Have a wonderful day and stay cool.

Good morning! I just rolled out of bed and saw your message.

Our older GS, 7, has had a speech problem. He's going to be in second grade and he sees a speech therapist and is doing better. His main problem is he pronounces "R" as "W". One of our DSs did, too, and he outgrew it after he was in years of speech therapy. Kind of like Elmer Fudd but not nearly as funny. Speech therapy does work but it may take time. I hope your little one does well.

You know, I hate those alarm system commercials, too! First of all, an alarm wouldn't stop someone hell bent on harming someone. Criminals know they have time before help comes. You are correct - no way would you answer the phone and say hello. Anyone would get on that phone and start screaming like crazy. When our property was flooded in January we called 911 and started screaming and it took awhile for the operator to calm us down. No way did we say "Hello. I say we have a slight problem, here. It seems our house might float away with us in it. Would you be a dear and send someone?"

My tummy's growling.........have a good day! Gail
