Planting is nearly done!

It seems that a lot of my stamina is finally returning after that bout with pneumonia!  It's about time!

Last Friday I got the front and back yards mowed in the evening after it cooled off a bit. That took me two sessions though.  But Saturday things got better!  I went out to a nursery that had some advertised sales on plants.  I got the petunias for my half barrels out front and some perennial daisy plants for by my mailbox....didn't dare get any more as I had no clue just how much energy I'd be able to muster and didn't want stuff dying before I could get it planted.   I stopped at some friends' home and visited for a couple of hours then came on home.  It was late afternoon by then, so I decided to go ahead and start mowing the side yard.  I got it done - all at the same time!  I came in to rest and discovered that I still had some energy left over so I got out the weed-eater and started down the back fence.  About half way down I ran out of line!  I had to go to the store to get some more (and pick up a few other things too, of course!!!).  Then I re-strung the machine and went back at it. The elm stump out front was covered in those huge mushrooms again this spring and I took the weed-eater to them too!   Got the whole yard edged!  (my right leg too, unfortunately! - but not bad!!) Wow!!

Sunday I planted the petunias and daisies.  This should be the last time I have to plant anything out by the mailbox under that maple!!

Tuesday, after my TOPS meeting and breakfast, I went out to my DS's for a while and stopped at the same nursery on my way home.  I got some impatiens to plant around my little maple tree and some zinnias, marigolds and two tomato plants to put out by the clothes line pole again this year.  I'm still thinking on what to do with my willow stump out there! After I got home I got the spot out by the pole dug up and left it to set for 24 hours to let the weed roots that I turned up to the sun die!  I found one 'volunteer' zinnia that came up from last year and dug it up for replanting!!  I planted the impatiens by the maple.  This is the last year for that!  Those maple roots are terrible to deal with every year.  I've decided to plant some hostas out there next time!  And maybe around the maple out by the mailbox too - that will get rid of the need to edge up next to the tree.

Wednesday I got the pole area all planted and the tools all cleaned up and put away.  All of the lily plants  that I transplanted to the front of my house last year are now budding nicely and I may have some flowers out there soon.  The Yucca is just about to bloom too.

Yesterday I had errands to run.  Out to Staples  (on the east side of Lansing) to get a toner cartridge for my laser printer and to the oil change place for a 'top off'.  Then on to the other side of Lansing to a JoAnn Craft & Fabric store to get a  knitter's stitch-holder safety pin to use on my new flag.  ( I want it to hold the center of the flag to the rope) Then to J.C.Penny to get a b'day gift for my DS, then to Red Robin for a burger for lunch. From there on out to Dr. J's to have my B/P checked....it has been way down for the past three weeks.  I think I'll set up an appointment to see him so I can stop this weekly checkup thing!!!  From there on to the Book Trader for some new JD Robb books and then home!

Last year when we were talking about vines that produce flowers someone mentioned a red flowering vine that sounded interesting to me.  I have forgotten who mentioned it or what it was - and I cannot find that post - so would whoever it was please remind me what the plant was?!!!    I have another pole out back I'd like to 'decorate'!!

Today I get to mow again!!!!!  One is never without a reason to exercise in the summer around here!!!

You are loved ~~ far more than you may ever know!

Katie, I'm so glad your energy is returning and you are starting to feel more like yourself. It is encouraging that you ran out of string before you ran out of energy. Well, sort of. lol It seems when you

Wow Kt you have gotten a lot accomplished in your yard. Sounds like it's going to be so pretty. I was really good about not buying a whole lot of flowers this year. But have just worked on my perennials. They are looking so pretty.

Sounds like you have gotten your stamina back, but please don't over do it and get sick again.
