About 1 am it started raining we got an inch and a half. It is cloudy this morning and the temps are down but there is still quite a bit of humidity.. Some of the campers that don't have anything going on are going to get Snacky Things and we will sit around and wait for Yankton to have their big boom down by the rive. We can grab a chair and sit down in the drive and watch it without the crowds and the noise...we can still hear the crackles and pops but nothing that will knock you on your .....you know.......lol
Looks like my parsley is shooting new leaves up from the spaces I cut so that is good news. With the rain and the grow stuff I gave it the basil plant is really growing.. I wish I liked pesto better. I like it some but I would be willing to bet that these old farmers around here wouldn't .....lol....then I could get a suprise maybe....
My allergies are really plugging my nose today....well I will squirt it and get some air in.
I don't grill.....over the years we have tried and Del is not a griller like most men..I have had burnt things that were raw or so done that it couldn't be eaten. Then there was the stuff that wouldn't cook no matter what. I watch Bobby Flay and curse him......put it off the heat so it can bake or put it over the hot heat.......Yeah right.....guess what I need is a $5000 grill....don't I ?
Anyway Del seems to think that we need a grill so we bought a gas one that sits on a table, ours will be attached to the railing. Pictures and other results later. I like grilled things or maybe I like smoked things better. But I would just as soon have someone else cook it...
Some of the campers here don't eat much at home they eat out most of the time... I am not ready for that yet......mainly because around here it would be fried or heavy stuff all the time an I can't handle that anymore. Hey, I remember when I was younger giggling at older people that were stubborn, cantankourous(SP) and just plain ornery and we let them because they were old and it was kind of cute.. Well Lordy, Lordy I am getting into the time of my life where I will be cute.....lol.....
Have a happy and safe 4th!!!!!

Retired and Lovin' it.

LOL Janet.
Have a great JULY 4!
Glad to know I'm not the only woman with a husband with no grilling gene. I picked up a small grill that looks like a barrel on it's side, and is big enough to hold a whole chicken or two for slow roasting. I fire it up when I have a taste. With the A/C on & temps outside with heat index of 103, I'm cooking inside today. DH & I were so tired after shopping & buying him a new(used) Harley on Sat., that we went all out & ordered a big sausage pizza. If we eat this kind of food early enough, we don't suffer all night. We do reminisce about the younger days when we'd have couples over and wound up eating pizza at midnight. I did pass on the ice cream for dessert on Sat, decided my tummy had plenty of fat to process. The pizza didn't have near enough sausage as usual, just another sign of eateries cutting costs.
DH & did some yard work early today and I managed to strain my right shoulder, where I have chronic tendonitis. So, I'm walking around with a piece of torn sheeting for a sling. Actually, I could join the 1776 group on the local parade & look like one of their wounded soldiers. Just a little bloody bandage around the head would seal the deal - LOL. Now we are both showered and in for the day. I think we're skipping the crowd at the fireworks display and watching our copy of Independence Day - a 4th tradition for us.
