Our little town had their 4th of July celebrations yesterday (thank goodness...it was a much nicer day and evening)...it's drizzling tonight.
I went over to my cousin's house who lives on the lake in the neighborhood where I grew up and where we spent endless hours swimming and exploring during our summers together. Both her kids and their families were there so it was cousins everywhere! We had dinner around 5:00...pulled pork sandwiches, 7 layer salad, baked beans, corn on the cob, water melon and I brought cole slaw. All very yummy.
The fireworks went off around 9:30 over the lake...we sat on their dock...all of us...with tiki torches lit to keep the mosquitoes at bay. After the fireworks we retreated back to the house for apple pie, cherry pie, ice cream sundaes and Swedish almond cake....burp. A couple more cousins came down the street from my other cousin's house to say hi.
Such a great day and night...love it. I've attached a couple of photos I snapped of the lake and my cousin's house.

Hey gf...good to see you here! Been missing you.
I don't have the recipe but I'll see if I can get it from my cousin. It's her b'day today so I doubt she's around. I'll send it to you when I get it and maybe Katie can put it on our recipe site.
How's life treating you?
Welllll....as a matter of fact there was a method to my madness. I have two frames on my screened porch and each one has room for three 4x6 photos. I have sunrise/sunset photos either I have taken or someone I love has taken from around the world and significant places that tell a story. The last one I wanted to fill just had to be from the lake where I grew up. That's not the prettiest sunset I've seen over there but it will do until I can get a better one. It was very peaceful sitting out there by myself remembering all the good times I had growing up there. I love that little lake.
My brother says he wants his ashes strewn there...I'm not sure yet about me...maybe.
