I did the Peachtree Road Race this morning, me and 55,000 other people. It's the largest 10K in the country (maybe the world?). I was reading on their website about the ages of the people signed up to do the race this year, and was surprised to read that I was in the lowest percentage age group -- only 8% of the 55,000 people participating were over 60. Made me feel pretty darn good about doing the race and finishing it!
Yesterday, I was "iffy" about doing the race because I have a sore toenail on my big toe, right foot. I did my last training walk on Wednesday (6.2 miles, which is the length of the PRR) and I don't know if my shoe was rubbing the toe wrong or what happened, but it has been *very* sore ever since. Actually, I'm pretty sure I'm going to lose the toenail eventually. (Eeewww....sorry, TMI) But I was determined to do the race so this morning, so I triple wrapped it in bandaids and got out there and did it. My toe isn't at all happy with me tonight, but I am *very* happy.....I did that race and collected my PRR T-shirt, which is like a trophy around here....lol.
The rest of my day was spent playing on the computer, watching TV, and I even had a little nap in the recliner this afternoon. (I had to get up at 4:30 this morning.) DH cooked steaks and Vidalia onions on the grill tonight and I made a salad, potato, garlic toast....yummy meal and a quiet evening at home. Actually, as I type this, I'm hearing the boom-boom-boom of fireworks "somewhere."
I'm off to bed soon. Hope everyone has had a nice, safe holiday!
Hugs....

It sounds like a perfect day BB! Congrats on completing that race. It is quite an accomplishment! Don't you love hearing stats that make you the exception rather than the rule:-)
Well, thank you, Filly Friend, and how nice it is to see you here this morning!
BB,
That running of the PRR is something to be very proud of, and I am proud of you.
Dannie, "cardiac hill" really isn't as bad as people say it is.
Congradulations, BB!

Congratulations, BB, on completing that race!
I hope your toe pain has eased up, BB.
