This heat is getting really old....

I am frazzled. This day after day of hot temps is doing me in. Dh was talking about needing to walk in the evenings, but it's so hot.  I walk out of the door at work and it's like get blasted by a furnace.  I think it has a lot to do with my energy too. I'm ready for some cooler temps period! I know come this winter I'll be wishing for these temps, but that's life in the south..lol.

Also, I am missing my "me" time. Somebody is always in this house with me. I did have about an half an hour yesterday, but that's about all I can get...grrrrr. I think I am still morning the loss of my past work schedule. I am enjoying learning new stuff, but I do miss playing in the makeup.

Ok I guess I'll go find some cheese and quit all this whining..lol. Just not a lot going on by heat and work.

(((hugs))

I'm right there with you. I remember when we were in New Orleans and a man said it was so hot in the Summer that you can take a shower, walk outside & be soaked with sweat. We're at that stage right now. I pulled some weeds in the early sun, raked rocks in the shade for 15 minutes and that was it.

Only good thing about the heat is that our veggies are loving it. We had our first batch of steamed green beans for supper & they were delish. DH prefers Great Lakes variety to Kentucky Wonder that most folks grow around here. I just love them steamed & tender.

I hear you about that ME time. When I went to work full-time, DH started a home based business. So, when I was off work, he was always there. Sometimes I just wanted to sit & watch some show on HGTV w/o him walking in to tell me something or make snide comments about "more $$ going into a money pit". I loved when I retired and he volunteered 1 day/ week at local museum. Plus change is most stressful when it wasn't your choice. All you can do is pay attention to the things you CAN do something about and forget the ones you can NOT control.

It's sure been easier for me to have some solo time since the weather has warmed and I can get outside easily. I have a DSis who loves to be with people constantly and having everything going on at once. I'm the opposite - I am perfectly content with brief visits with family & friends and enjoy working on my personal projects. I spent hours today making samples of designs on my embroidery machine.

See? Your walk & side trips were in YOUR control. May seem insignificant to others, but there are times in all are lives when baby steps will have to do.

Guuurl....if it makes you feel any better (and I don't know why it would, but....) it's hot in Illinois too -- in the 90's and the humidity is sky-high. I feel right at home!....lol.

Know what you mean about "me time".....my DH is semi-retired now so he's usually home from the office around noon. I hear the garage door open around that time and say an ugly word. lol! Now, don't get me wrong, I love the man, but I sure miss those days of having the house to myself for 8 hours!

I remember how much you loved doing the makeup displays at work. I still think of you when I go to our local store and see how they're set up.

Sure hope you settle into a better routine soon, SS. At our age, we do NOT handle change well!

Hugs....

I guess I agree with everything everyone else said, except I'm still not thawed out from last winter, so I love this heat!

Horse tank - I hadn't thought of that. Let's see, it's oval, so would fit right in the center of DH's outdoor RR track.

Instead, I've cranked up the ceiling fans & raised the A/C temp. Feels decent, not like the food locker DH normally requests. It's cause the air has dried out. I have both cats within a foot of me enjoying the cool, can't budge from desk w/o moving one of them.
