with so many knowledgable and helpful women. My husband and I are TTC#2 and this is our first cycle. With our daughter, I conceived on the first attempt but with this cycle I'm feeling completely unsure about anything. I'm hoping some of you can answer my questions. First, I've lost about 90 pounds in the past year and a half and my cycle seems to have changed right along with the weight loss. My period happens about every 26-30 days with 25 days being the norm over the last two months. I've been charting regularly the days on which I think ovulation occurs etc. However, this month we are really TTC so I went ahead and bought the ovulation kits. I started testing on July 12 (my last period was the 4th) and have had negatives ever since. I was convinced that this morning there would be some sort of faint line even but there was nothing. Tomorrow will be CD#15 and I haven't even seen a faint surge on the tests. I did check my CM this morning and it seems to be white and creamy almost like lotion. Does this mean I'll ovulate? In the past I've always ovulated near or on the 14th days and now I'm worried I won't ovulate at all this month. I have never skipped a period in my life so I don't think that will happen. Do you think losing the weight affected my ovulation? Could it be possible that tomorrow morning the test will show that I'm getting ready to ovulate? Wouldn't it seem like there should have at least been a faint line if I were going to ovulate in the near future? I'm sorry for the barrage of questions. Thanks so much for even reading this far as well as for all the amazing information I've learned here!

Welcome to the board, Heather. I'm sorry you're feeling so lost about what your body is doing. Creamy CM can mean that O is approaching. I usually get creamy before I get EW, but some women only get creamy. It's possible to get random creamy patches that don't mean anything, but if it was dry or sticky and is now creamy, that's probably a good sign that O is coming. It is possible that you won't O this month, but that shouldn't concern you if it does happen. All women have some anovulatory cycles; most just don't realize it. It's not a problem at all unless it happens regularly. Losing weight may have affected your ovulation, but the best sign of ovulation (according to my doctor) is a regular cycle. So if you've been having fairly regular periods, which it sounds like you have, you're probably just fine. Do you take your BBT or check your CP? These are very helpful signs that, paired with an O test and CM, can give you a very clear picture of when you O. It's very possible that you're just having a long cycle and O is on its way. GL and try to relax (I know, easier said than done). I hope you get those double lines real soon!

Hello,

I don't think that I have too much to offer in the lines of answers. Anyway welcome and I hope that your stay is nice and short:) I do know that my friend's cycle changed a little bit when she dropped wieght but it winded up stabilizing within a couple of months. Are you charting your temps? If you are not you might want to just b/c with most women it gives you a general ideal when you did o. I used OPK's for the first time this month and never really had a positive result but I did have 2 lines the first day one lighter than the control. Then the next day the lines were almost the same color. Some women will never test positive on OPK's. So I am doing BBT,CM and Cp which gives me a pretty good ideal when I o. All that I can say is have patienence and try not to get yourself stressed out or you will wind up like me...LOL... Good Luck to you and keep us posted!

Hi Heather and welcome to the board!! There is such a wonderful group of ladies here who are so helpful and supportive.

First of all, C*O*N*G*R*A*T*S on losing all of that weight!! Wow, what a tremendous accomplishment. I really think that substantial decrease in your weight may throw your cycle off a bit. I definitely think you should continue with the OPK. I don't know what kind you are using, but I use First Response and from what I understand faint lines don't necessarily mean you are close to that surge - just the surge itself is what matters. I hope that makes sense. I think as you get closer to O - your CM may change to more stretchy and egg white consistency, but not always. Try not to get discouraged. I think the OPK is a good idea to see what your body will do.

Best of luck and I hope you get that LH surge soon!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the board, Heather! I hope your stay with us is short and sweet!

"o" can be delayed for many reasons...certainly the weight loss could be having an effect, but if your cycles have been regular, then that's an excellent sign. If this is your first cycle of really TTC, the stress of that could also be delaying things. Some ladies go from nothing to full + on the OPK and others get a gradual darkening of the test line...you may be of the first variety. Keep doing what you're doing- watch CM and opks I'm sure she'll show soon for you.

GL!!!

Hi Heather,

I just want to say 90 POUNDS? Woo hoo, that's amazing!! Congratulations! You must be incredibly proud of yourself for having so much willpower and determination.

I have heard that weight loss and gain can both affect your cycle, but I'm not sure to what extent. Maybe you could check with your doc?

Oh, and welcome to the board! I almost forgot, I was so excited about the 90 pounds. GL to you!
