Well...looks like DH and I are going to be moving from Texas to Seattle at the end of October! I'm in hopes that I'll be pregnant at that point. Anyone know if it is safe to make such a move during the first trimester. We will have a moving company move all our things and one of our cars up there...and we plan to just drive up to Seattle at a slow pace, kind of making a vacation out of it...DH promises no marathon driving sessions. I'm SO excited! But I'm nervous too...about if it would be safe.

What do you guys think?

Happy Saturday!

Hey Anne,

Wow, is that DH's idea of your Birthday present this year?? Boy, now that is going to be a move. You'll be clear across the country from me. Is he moving with his job or something? And will you be able to continue MT there? How exciting!! I would think you would be fine as long as you don't over do it with lifting or anything. You said the movers would be doing most everything, so I think you're good to go. Boy, what a difference in climate that's going to be. Did you get any of "Claudette" ??? Sounds like she left a mess down there in some areas.

I read your post about the Progesterone levels going DOWN after taking supplements this last cycle. What in the world was up with that ?? That doesn't even seem possible. I'm sorry things did not work out last cycle, they didn't for me either. DH & I are looking forward to August. I'm hoping and praying that is the month to get things back on track for "Baby Making".

Well, take care and I hope you have a great weekend!!! DH & I are going to visit my Mom in NC this weekend , so I'm pretty happy about that. Talk to you soon!!!

Hi!

I'm in Houston and just got back from vacation in Seattle-it's so gorgeous, people living there don't even realize how great they have got it weatherwise.

I am not sure what you are concerned about moving in particular?? you should be fine. Pregnant women are a lot less fragile and more hearty and resilient than most people realize. Obviously no heavy lifting but i'm sure you know that.

completely safe... there isn't much you can't do in your first trimester. I am 12 weeks along right now. We move in a week. I am packing boxes. I will move boxes. I have also gone river rafting 2x's.

btw, I live in Seattle :)

Hi Lisa,

Good to hear from you. Pretty cool birthday present! Actually, we aren't moving until after my birthday...plan to leave Fort Worth on the 29th of October. Seattle is where DH is from originally and he has a lot of family there and loves it there. We have always talked about moving to Seattle at some point in the next year or two...but after giving it some thought, it seemed like it would be easier to move and get settled before we have a baby. That is a long way to move with an infant! So...we figured now is as good a time as any! DH's job is such that he can live anywhere in the world and still be able to do it...and I am planning to quit the MT job at the end of August anyway, so that is not an issue.

I am SO excited about it! We will have the movers take all of our things and DH's sister who lives in Seattle will let the movers into our house (that we have not found yet) to drop all the stuff off, because DH and I have decided to make the drive up our vacation for this year...along the way we will be stopping in Tucson to visit friends, then will spend a few nights in Las Vegas (where I've been wanting to go for a long time!)...then will spend some time in LA visiting DH's favorite aunt and going to Disneyland...then will stop for a few nights in San Francisco to do the tourist thing...

we plan to drive mostly along the coast from LA up to Portland, Oregon...and then eventually will end up in Seattle. It will be at least a 2 week vacation driving up to Seattle with all of our stops. Can you tell that I am just TOO excited! I've never really done a lot of traveling, and this just seems like such a fun trip.

You know..that WAS really strange about my progesterone level dropping. Makes me wonder if it could have been a mistake at the lab. I don't know. I got really upset and stressed about it...which is why DH and I decided I need to try to take a little break from obsessing about it all so much and spending crazy amounts of time on this board and looking at "how to get PG books", and so on. We are just going to keep temping and BDing every other day...and pray that eventually we'll get PG. If I'm not PG by the time we are settled up in Seattle, then I will go in and have some more comprehensive testing...I'll be just past the 6-month mark that they say you should see your doc if you are 35 or older. I just hope I can find a really good doctor!

GL to you and DH this month! It looks like you guys are really getting on track now. Who knows...maybe this will be your month!

I'm not on the board as much these days...but will be checking in here and there to TRY to keep up with everyone. At least now with this trip and move ahead of us...I have something else to occupy my mind a little bit...like making a list of "can't miss" things to see or do between here and Seattle.

Talk to you soon,

Anne

Hi Kim,

Yes...I have to say I won't miss the Texas HEAT up in Seattle. They really do have such nice weather...except it is pretty cloudy and rainy in the winter.

I just did not know if it was really a good idea to take such a long car trip in the first trimester...I know that risk of miscarriage is higher in the first trimester and so I just did not know. And my uncle had made the comment that that was too much driving during pregnancy and seemed to think it was a bad idea.

But you are right...pregnant women are not that fragile...and DH and I plan to not push ourselves and rest whenever I need to...assuming I'm actually PG by that time!

Hi Lisa!

Thanks for the response! I just did not want to take any chances...assuming I am PG at that point.

I'm very excited about moving to Seattle! Do you like it there? What part of Seattle are you in? We are probably going to move to the Bellevue area. Know any good OB/GYNs?

I'll definitely be wanting to find someone quickly once I get there.

GL with your move!

Hey,

I promise you aren't taking any chances. You can't really "cause" a miscarriage. If it happens it's not from anything you did unless you were in a really bad car accident. And even then it's unlikely that a car accident would cause a miscarriage. People are under the misconception that it's east to cause one. When in fact virtually all miscarriages are due to something outside the woman's control ... promise :)

Well, my dh and I currently live in an area of seattle called greenlake. But we are moving north to south everett to an area called silver lake within 2 weeks. Bellevue houses are too much money for us and my DH works mostly in Seattle and the commute from there would SUCK!

As for OB/GYN's I have a great one that I see for my GYN care and if I didn't want a midwife and to give birth at home I would use him. His name is Dr. Coe. I LOVE him. He has always treated me with respect when I am there. Taking me into his office before a visit to make sure we talk when I am clothed before I undress for something. I think that's nice :) He has also been in practice for many years. You can find the webpage at www.bellegroveobgyn.com

I also have a great midwife if you are thinking of that route :)

oh, one more note.. yes I love it here minus the traffic problems. I have lived here pretty much my whole life! I left for about 7 months one year and that was it. My DH is from california though.

Hi Lisa,

Thanks for the reassurance! If I am pregnant by the time we move, I really want to be able to enjoy the trip up to Seattle without worrying!

I checked out your OB/GYN's website...looks good! I'll have to check it out when I get there.

My DH used to live in Bellevue, which is why he is interested in checking out that area...I hope it is not too expensive. He does say he is not committed to just the Bellevue area, it is just the area he knows best. And as for the traffic...that is something I'm definitely used to living in the Dallas/Fort Worth area! :) I just can't wait to see those mountains!

Thanks for the info...and have fun with your pregnancy!

Hey Anne

how funny, we stayed in a hotel in Bellevue! It was nice and I think an excellent distance from Seattle as far as driving goes.. I am from Houston and the traffic in Seattle to me was laughable LOL so I don't think it was bad at all, actually it was quite clear, and we were driving into downtown Seattle at "rush hour". I am used to driving an hour and a half in bumper to bumper stopped traffic to go 20 miles ;-)

well, if you need any help with areas and distances to places just let me know. Having lived here all my life I can help out :-)

Bellevue houses are running 275-500 for an average size older home. It depends on the area in Bellevue you decide to live in.

We are looking at houses under 200 so my DH could pay for the mortgage himself allowing me to stay home. We had to go north and buy a cosmetic fixer to get that.

Good luck with everything :) and sending lots of baby dust.

btw, if you want to contact me... my email is. umothra@hotmail.com
