hello ladies,

ok--we are finally ready to start trying................YIPPIE!

when is the best time to conceive? I have read it's the 14th day? so, if I'm correct--count 14 days from the first day of your last period...and then make sure you have sex that day? I know we are all different? we had sex on the 18th day this month? could I still get pregnant or is that definitely too late from ovulation?

AND--please forgive my lack of knowledge on this so far......... I can usually "feel" it when I ovulate (if that is the correct time of the month I am thinking of and calling it by the right name?--when your egg drops, and if it's met by sperm at that time, then it's preggo-city? right? OR if you feel that "pain" in the middle of your month? does that mean that you've missed the boat on that month? that that "pain" means that the egg didn't meet sperm and therefore it's coming down the "tube" and then in a few days you are going to "start"? I guess I want to know that when I feel the egg being released is that when I want to definitely make sure we have sex? or is the egg being released the result of no sperm meeting the egg? it would be very cool that if/when I feel that egg being released to have sex then and know that the egg is coming down and it's optimal time to get pregnant? could it possibly be that easy?

thank you for your patience----

any advice on actual days to try? is it day 13-something like the 16th?

thanks.

Hi,

I am fairly new to all of this too, but I will try to answer your questions...We just finished our 2nd month ttc #1. Unfortunetly AF appeared this morning.

Anyway, the pain that you are talking about during the middle of your cycle is ovulation. Many women can feel it, I personally haven't been able to. Ovulation is when the egg is released and is the perfect time to meet up with sperm and becomee fertilized. You actually have a better chance of becoming pregnant before you ovulate rather than having sex that day.

There are lots of ways to estimate your ovulation so that you are having sex the correct days, or the fertile days. You can get ovulation predictor kits in the same section as the pregnancy tests at the store. You can also take your temps each day and chart. There is a good website www.fertilityfriend.com that helps with charting. There is a handbook there that explains all of it. I haven't done any of those methods yet, but this month we are going to try the charting and temping. The past two months I have just tried to guess based on ovulation calendars that I have found online.

I notice your name is denvermonkey....are you in Denver? I am in Colorado Springs!
