What are our chances?

Ok. My dh and I are in a strange situation. The first thing you have to understand is that we are Christians and so we believe that God has a plan for our lives. My dh lost his job about a month ago. He has a new job lined up, but he is not at all happy about it (selling vacuum cleaners). He is a computer guy, so he really doesn't want to get out of the industry. Well, he had another interview last Wed. and he was supposed to hear back about it today. When he didn't hear by 3pm, he e-mailed and immediately got a reply that they hadn't made a decision yet and they would call him as soon as they know something. The last 2 days he has told me not to take my pill until we find out about this job. We planned on ttc if he gets the job. He says if I get pregnant in the meantime, then he will be happy and it must be God's will. My question is: do you think there could even be a chance of me getting pregnant during this time? I am on Sprintec (generic Ortho-Cyclin) and I was supposed to start the last week of blue pills (the week before my period) yesterday. Thanks for any input you might have.

Hi, Janice. There may be a slight chance, but I can't imagine there would be much of one. I suspect that you will simply see your period show very early. You are tricking your body with hormones and by stoping you are telling it to start your period. It's not recommended that you do that, but what's done is done. It may actually take a cycle or two for your body to regulate back to normal for TTC so you may just want to stop the pills altogether and see how it goes?

GL to you and to DH! I hope he gets the job he wants,

Tara,

Thanks for your post. That is actually the answer I wanted to hear. We really hope to get pregnant in August or September, so I figured I should get off bcp as soon as possible, so that my body may have time to adjust first. If it doesn't work, there's always next year.
