Any Good NYC Doctors?

Hi there ladies. Jo here on CD15. I'm not exactly thrilled with my doc lately. He's very nonchalant about my questions on TTCing. I just feel like he's not very forthcoming with information to help me TTC. It takes a lot of prompting from me to get any info. I'm 36 and on C7 yet he insists I don't need to do any testing yet and not to obsess about charting temps and CM. He said to just BD every day or every other day after AF until the week before AF. Like duh. I think I need a new doc who is a partner and will work with us on discussing and doing everything possible to get us a BFP.

Can anyone recommend any good docs in the NYC area?

Hi Jo,

I don't have an answer for you unfortunately. I'm not that thrilled with my dr either. Her advice was actually even worse than yours -- she said that all I had to do was BD around the 14th day of my cycle and that would do the trick. Thank god, I found this message board!

Anyway, I'm just responding b/c I'd be interested in finding a good NYC ob/gyn or midwife too! Anyone know one? Rachel (nyc_dollhouse), do you have a good dr?

I have a wonderful OB/GYN but he's in Staten Island. If you're interested, let me know.

Hi ladies. Thanks for your responses!

Imani, I'm not sure where I should start. And here's a dumb question - what is an RE (a fertility specialist)? I think I'd be OK with trying a new gyn first that could give me better guidance including whether or not I need a specialist.

Tigg925, Staten Island may be a little inconvenient for me. I'd really prefer Manhattan. But thanks!

Hi there,

Former graduate here wanted to give you the name of my ob/gyn in NYC...My sisters and i have been using her for over 10 yrs (she delivered my little sister who is turning 11 in sept). her name is Dr. Ellen Manos 212 759-6623...she works with a partner Dr. N. Agharian (also excellent). They accept new patients but like most nyc drs do not take insurance. They are very proactive and do not believe in women over 30 having to wait the year to start with simple noninvasive testing as to why they cant conceive. Im only 29 (she told me try for 6 months and let me know...with over 30-35 she says try for 3), but my sis is 33 and when she told dr she has been trying but nothing for a while she started doing some culture tests, blood tests etc. and found some reasons 9treatable with medications) she may not be pg yet....give them a call they r great...as far as fertility specialists...i hear a group at New York Presbyterian is great....know a few people who went to them....you can find them under www.ivf.org ....director is Zev Rosenwaks (takes about 3 months to see him) and i also know people who saw dr. chung and dr kligman and liked them too..theyb r supposed to be one of teh best gropus in nyc

HTH, Ally (edd 9/29)

if you call my ob/gyn let me know and ill give you my full name (allyb11@aol.com)

Thank you so much for the info! I was hoping for someone who'll take insurance but of course the good ones in NYC don't take it. I'll let you know what happens.

Thanks again!

Jo
