I would appreciate any opinion here, Ladies. It would be greatly appreciated!!:)

I went into my doctor yesterday and asked for a requisition for a blood test and he asked if I had taken an hpt. I told him I had and he said that he would like to get a urine sample taken at the lab and if the test was negative he would do a blood test. Now that I think of it I never had blood drawn until my first maternal serum test with either dd or dh. Has anyone else ever heard of this?? Or do they not do hcg count on people that they assume have no risk?? As I have never been to my doc for any fertility issues, or questions, even. I have to call back tomorrow and go discuss the pos. urine lab results and get my form for my ultrasound because he always does one right away.

Just trying not to get worried here:) But, Im sure as you all can agree, it's not easy.;)

GM Anna! Congrats on the positive! I was feeling the same way when I got my + a few weeks ago. After reading all the posts on here about all the ladies having b/t after getting +hpt, I figured this was a pretty standard thing to do. So when I called my dr and told them I had gotten two +hpt and asked if I needed to get a b/t done, they said that they usually did not order them if people have gotten + hpt's (said sometimes insurance co's won't pay for them, although I was sure mine would). They said the hpt's are usually always pretty accurate and that I could come into the office to give a urine sample and they could just verify that way. I was a little confused also at the time. I ended up not going in to the dr for the urine test there because I found out right before July 4th and we had so much going on at the time, and were so excited with the +hpt's, that I just decided to trust what the dr said, along with my body since I was having tons of rps by that time. I am now at about 8 weeks and have my first appt this afternoon and they will be ordering all my bloodwork and doing an u/s as well. I'd say don't worry about them not ordering the b/t and just trust the + urine test and eventual u/s!

Hope this helps!! Good luck to you!!!

no i don't think they do any kind of testing for someone that comes in with a positive pg test. i think if you start bleeding or something they would. don't sweat it! i never got any kind of blood drawn for a while when i was pg, i can't even really remember what they got blood for anyways, since i skipped the triple screen too

My doctor never did a b/t with my 3. They trusted the + hpt. Congrats! Happy baby vibes!
