Yet another intimate question from me...

Okay, my husband and I use the Billings Method for NFP, so we have never BDd during my fertile times before (this is our first month TTC).
Here's the problem: I'm having difficulty distinguishing between CM and, well, "residue" from our BDing. How long does excess semen last? If we BD in the evening, will it be gone by mid-day the next day (after moving around, going to the washroom etc.) or does it stick around?
It's hard for me to recognize my usual changes in CM, and because of that I'm not sure if I've O'd yet. I'm only on day 14 and that's early for me, but I've had a lot of EWCM and watery CM the last two days and today there's very little. That's normally a sign that I HAVE O'd -- or am right now.
Help! Can anyone who knows how to distinguish CM from semen help me?

I think Tara, or someone else, had an answer for this. The cm doesn't dissolve in water as easily as semen.
I haven't tried it, but I think you get some, then dip in water. If it's gone pretty much right away, it's semen, otherwise not.

I'm hoping someone can relate to me here, but I tend to get really wet, slippery, stringy discharge when Im turned on, which has nothing to do with my fertility or ovulatory cycle. I tend to orgasm easily and it doesn't take much for my natural "lubrication" to flow, shall we say. That mixed with my hubby's semen...well, I think you know where Im going here.
Anyway, I obviously have a hard time tracking my ovulation based on CM alone and I definitely cancel it out a day after sex because I don't know if it's mine, or his, or both ;-)
Speaking of CM....how much do you ladies normally have? Am I supposed to be looking for a lot, or can a small amount indicate ovulation? Im sorry this was so graphic. I just have so many ?'s!
Thanks!
Kim
