Should I go get a blood test?
| Thu, 07-31-2003 - 2:12pm |
I know I'm technically a graduate, but I so trust the girls on this board so I have to ask this question. I tested positive almost two weeks ago when af was due (and two more times that week...obsessive, I know.) My doctor said it was early and to wait two weeks, test again and call back for an appointment. (Weird, I thought.) Anyway, I tested this morning with a FRE and got a very light line. It's not a struggle to see it, but I was expecting a big bold dark line at 5w 5d. The nurse didn't seem concerned and wouldn't see me any sooner and now I've been a mess all day!
Two questions:
1. Is it possible my hcg levels are dropping? (No spotting or anything btw)
2. Should I be looking for a new doctor?

Please offer your insight especially if this has happened to you. You'd think with #2 I wouldn't be such a basket case!!!
Thanks,
Amy

I think you should get a blood test - only to ease your mind. It is strange how the dr's wait so long to see you for your first appt. What state are you in? I am in FL and most the women I know who have been PG here say that their Dr. didnt want to see them until 8 - 10 weeks!!!
I would want to see one right away because I am a worry wort!
Instead of buying 100 more tests, go see the doc and request a blood test. (Thats just what I would do.)
Congrats!!!! And it sounds like everything is perfect for you! I just suggested the blood work to ease your mind.
And, go with your gut on the dr. thing - is this someone you have been going to for a long time, or a brand new one?? If it was a new one, I'd definitely change.
(((HUGS!!)))) I am happy for your BFP!!!

(((((HUGS)))))Amy! I'm suprised at your Dr, and would not at all be happy with their non-chaulance(sp?) if I were you. Sometimes it is the nurse, and you could call back and ask to speak with the Dr about your concerns. I definitely think you should get a blood test done- if only to ease your mind that levels are good. It is very possible that the time that you took this light lined test your urine was more diluted, resulting in a lighter line, but yes sweetie- we all know from this board that levels can drop and early m/c is a factor. The thing is that your Dr office should be working with you during this time and you need to know!
((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))) Strong HCG vibes to you!!!!!
