I have a confusing situation and would like opinions......Thanks in advance for any responses.

Today is 13 DPO for me and I decided to do a hpt and two very obvious lines showed up! Positive, and I was excited (this was my first cycle on clomid so I was really hoping). So I went to the ob/gyn to confirm, expecting the good news and the nurse did a 2 second urine test and said it was negative (I never saw the doctor). Of course, I was crushed and went back home to take another hpt and again, two dark lines (not even a faint second one). So here I sit really confused, disappointed and hopeful all at the same time. I don't know what to think. Any thoughts?

Take a deep breath! My doctor with dd (4) didn't even do another urine test when I came into the office. The nurse told me that today's hpt's are as effective as those they use in the office (urine, not blood). If it were me I'd run to the store and get a different brand, try it one more time, then call the doctor back and demand a blood test. A false positive is really rare and two false positives seems way too much of a coincidence! Do you have any symptoms?

Amy,

That's my plan tomorrow--to try a different brand and see what it does. I think I might have a few light symptoms (light nausea, tiredness, my breasts are definitely sore, but I'm afraid it might all be in my head). I just wish I had a yes or no.

same thing happened to me, but I insisted on a blood test. I would go back tomorrow and insist on one, say the dr. told you at your last appointment that if you thought you were pregnant to come in for a blood test. I'd be pushy about it and if they won't authorize it insist on speaking to your dr. right then. For my first my husband refused to believe I was pregnant until I had a blood test, and it made me feel better, too. For my second I doubt if I'd go in for one, but ya know, you know what you want, right?

I vote for blood test too! If your ob/gyn gives you problems about the blood test your primary doctor should be able to do this as well. My ob told me they did not need to do a blood test so I just went to my family doctor and they were more than happy to do it!

Good Luck!
